...Fellow Mopar fans. Nice board you have here, I'm not currently an owner of a 2nd gen Neon, but probably will be very soon. I really miss the handling and responsiveness of my SRT-4, and I wish I hadn't sold it.

Looking forward to coming here to hear about the good mods and upgrades I'll be putting on my 2gn in the future. =]

Yeah, I thought I'd be fine with the Charger and using the Celica as my daily driver, but the Charger is expensive to mod, plus it's under warranty, and the Celica has ZILCH for performance mods.

I sold my SRT-4 when I bought my Charger, and now I miss it. I happen to know a good deal about Neons, and I know they are great modding platforms, so I'm going to get back in a Neon very soon... possibly buying Grambo's ACR shortly here...

Man, the 92's have more than the 94-99's. Mine is a 95, with the 5S-FE 2.2L.

At least back in 92 they had the All-Trac turbo motor, but yeah, the farther back you go the less stuff there is for the car.

The 5S-FE in the Celica is a long stroke 4 cylinder, so it makes good torque, but it has no guts after 3000RPM.

There are one or two brands of coilovers available, and one set of sway bars, but no strut bars, no throttle bodies, no headers, and only one type of exhaust ($500 Greddy unit), and the main reason is because that engine really can't do much with bolt-ons.

I really dig the Neons because there is a ton of support, and thousands of parts available, and they take well to the mods. Plus it's a domestic... =]

Oh come now, we all know there's no such thing as enough... =]

There is a supercharger kit for the Charger, and a stroker kit being developed that takes it up to 7.0L, either one is good for 500RWHP, both together... well... maybe they need to make a stronger tranny first... hehe.

The 4160lbs of the Charger SRT-8 sure are well put to use, but it's never going to have the sharpness of a Neon with some handling mods. The Charger may have tons of grip, but it's a heavyweight, and will always behave like one. I look forward to getting something in the middleweight/lightweight class that I can play with. =]

Oh, and the name is Mike, thanks for the warm welcome!

Yeah, mine had the 5S-FE... You do know that the 3S-GTE exhaust manifold will bolt up to the FE head, right? That mean you can bolt up the CT-26 turbo... Running the oil and cooling line are a cynch after that. And in my opinion, there are ALOT of modding stuff for the 6th gen celica... Nice body kits and stuff too. Also the GT4 was made for the 6th gens, so even more choices there... But I think it was only offered over in europe. Check out the site www.gt4oc.net There are some nice rides there... One of my favorite sites back in my celica days.... Not that I;m trying to stear you away from neons or anything.... I love my 2gn

Well yeah, I shouldn't say there is nothing for 6th gen Celi's, but if you compare the amount of things available for the Celi vs. the Neon, it's about 10:1 in favor of the Neon. The 5S-FE is not really good for much, other than FI, and then it's not really built for that.

In other words, I'd have to get pretty radical and drop at least a few G's on the Celi to get some real power gains out of it, and I'd rather just have a car that handles superbly (ACR) and has a good amount of NA enhancements that I can do.

I'm thinking about extrude honing the head, maybe getting some crane cams, and high compression pistons, but that would be a bit more down the road. I know I'll have a good selection of companies to choose from when the time comes, and that makes me feel good. =]

Welcome to the boards! We bought a Charger RT back in May and as much as I love my neon...the Charger is mighty nice..

It is expensive to mod, and as far as the warranty, it'll remain intact if you use genuine mopar parts.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

I've already started a list of things I want to do for the car, I'm going to slap the cash in Grambo's hand tonight.

Damn him though, he's already done nearly everything except tear into the engine. I have to really stretch to find things to mod, and I want to keep it NA for sure.

Here's my tentative list of things I'd like to do, roughly in chronological order:

SRT-4 style polished aluminum shift ball
MPx mid-length header (merge collector)
Luk/Spec clutch
Phantom Grip
Diff saver pin
INDY intake manifold
MSD DIS-2 ignition
MSD tach adapter
Crane #14 cams
Crave valve springs and titanium retainers

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I got a seperate list for yah bro. Its included with teh giant 3 ring binder of receipts and records. BTW, I installed your new alternator last night and the car hasn't run this good in a long time. SUPER smooth accelaration, no more fading headlamps, even the stereo is louder.
I'll mail you th receipt after I get the core. :D
Here was my list:

Weighted SRT shift knob
LoneWolf intake (VERY pretty. ask tamadrummer about it)
Custom CAI for intake
Moroso oil pan
Inverted coilovers (from lambostealth VERY pretty)
Raccoon headlamps (black interior)
CF hood
CF trunk
Roll Cage (all info is in the car)
appropriate harnesses for cage (Schroth)
Glass the lip in black or CF
copper head gasket
rebuild top end with yummy parts
rebuild bottom end with yummy parts
Fix the dog damage...haha

Cool, I see you have the same thing at the top of your list anyways, hehe. I had the SRT shift ball from MPx on my SRT-4, and I know with the STS you have on there right now that it will be the first thing I want to get.

I was also considering getting an MPx crank scraper, and possibly rebuilding the motor with some JE pistons, .020 over, 10.5:1. That's if/when I decide to tear into the engine =].

You mentioned that the Magnum's come with a stock header? I'm wondering if the MPx Magnum header design is worth it, I'm not sure if I want to get that yet.

I'll look into the LoneWolf intake and and inverted coilovers too, and I was hoping to find some 2g projector headlamps (I've seen the ones being discussed here, and I agree, FTW with the 3 LEDS???). Carbon fiber hood and trunk were in my mind, but they're so expensive for what you get, $500 each, unless I can find a deal somewhere.

Yep. the shorty header that is on there is basically a Borla. (Let the corrections begin guys.. ) I actually purchased the Borla at one point. heald it up to mine and went CRAP!, then I returned it for store credit that eventually was spent on the car anyway...
The "high-flow" cat was a ghetto piece I acquired and had put on when I got the TD tailpiece.
I've had aspirations of replacing the O2 sensors also, but that would mean rebuilding teh entire exhaust cuz I knwo those bastardos won't come out without a torch..haha

Thanks man! I'm officially a 2nd gen owner again. In a few years I want to pick up a used 2005 SRT-4 ACR, but this 2001 ACR will certainly hold me over =].
