MSD or Magnecore

Post by Adam_T » Mon Jan 15, 2007 3:29 pm

wanting to replace my spark plugs/coil pack/wires...

read on MPx about the two different spark plugs...they both are good with the whole EMI and size isnt really a crazy issue, they both make around the same size if not identical.

Magnecore says it "smoothes" out your idle which helps the engine run better, but MSD says nothing about it.

hmmmm?

help?

I replaced my stock pack with an MSD and I noticed ---- nothing :?

Seriously, it was used, and only had about 5k miles on it, and I got it for 25$, so I really didnt care. I know it is supposed to even out your spark, or something - so personally, unless you don't care, save the money for something more useful. :D

Coil = Stock
Plugs = NKG V-Power
Wires = Magnecore

The stock coil pack is just as good as an MSD or any other fancy brand but it's cheaper. NGK V-Power'ss are the best plugs for us. Sure Iridiums are awesome as hell but they are MUCH more expensive and not too much different than the V-Power's, performancewise. Magnecore/MSD wires are both equally as good. Our cars do not need the larger wire but it does smooth out the idle a bit. And well, the reason why I chose Magnecore ^^^^ is well... I personally own them and love them but only difference between them and MSD is the brand. lol
Sig Applications.

Apply here. haha tricked ya' bitch!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

DO NOT buy MSD coilpacks.......there have been 100's of reported cases of them burning out within a few months, and not many miles.....

I have msd coilpack (got a good deal on it), magnecore wires, and ngk vpowers.

(on a sidenote...how do you tell a coilpack is bad?)

Pull the plug wires off the coil, and if any of the terminals on the coil are dark grayish and kind of burnt looking, that one is bad. If they are all shiny silver, then they're usually fine. :)

Also on this subject... anywhere I can get a screamin demon coil pack, OTHER than Howell? I refuse to give them business, but I don't know of any other places that sell them.
