Differences between exterior parts on different year Neons
Differences between exterior parts on different year Neons
This is an informational post for teh n00bs, maybe we can cut down on the once-a-month questions.
1. '03+ headlights (including SRT) will fit on your '00-'02 with a new front bumper from the respective donor car.
2. '03+ taillights (including SRT) will fit your '00-'02 with a new rear bumper from the respective donor car.
3. The SRT hood will have a gap between the front of the hood and the top of the front bumper, but will fit.
4. '00 style hoods have a point on them enough to cause problems with '03+ bumpers.
5. ALL '00+ trunks are the same (including SRT)
6. ALL '00+ front fenders are the same (including SRT)
7. R/T rear bumper cut-outs are too narrow to fit the SRT exhaust.
8. ALL '00+ front and rear doors are the same (including SRT)
9. SRT spoiler will bolt directly to a trunk with an SXT spoiler.
10. The 00-02 hood will overhang the 03+ fascia, the SRT hood with the SRT fascia will also have a 1/4-1/2" gap between them when installed

SRT hood will stick out past the bumper when used on a non-SRT model... SRT hood is slightly longer than the regular hood.linkin18t wrote:3. The SRT hood will have a gap between the front of the hood and the top of the front bumper, but will fit.
if you use a non-SRT hood on a SRT or SRT-D, thats when you have a gap.

Ok.... after reading this I have a question for you guys....
I've got an SRT front bumper thats going to go on. I have an RD turbo CF hood thats also going to go on. But its for an 00 SE. Mine is an 05 SXT. Am I going to have a problem with the hood overlapping the front bumper? From what I can tell the SRT hood is shorter in the front than the SXT hood. That would lead me to assume that the front bumper comes up higher on the SRT. If that is the case then will I be able to close the hood?

Ummm... I think so, I've never seen any proof that the SRT bumper rises any higher than the normal bumpers.marakka wrote:Ok.... after reading this I have a question for you guys....

What does item #7 mean by "too narrow"? Does it mean that the cut-outs are closer together and hence in a different position than the SRT-4 exhaust, or does it mean that the cut-outs are smaller and hence the SRT exhaust tips will not fit in them?Frizbe wrote: 7. You can take a heat gun to the lip kit, and with a little care, get it to fit your 02 bumper.DroopDaddy408 wrote:Will an 03+ bumper fit on an 02. If so, do I need to change taillights to 03+? I want a Mopar lip kit for the rear, hence the bumper swap.
If you want to go the easy way, you'll need an 03+ bumper and 03+ taillights.
00-05 Neons are all pretty much the same thing. Just different lights, suspension, motors and cabin features. And the SRT-4 is a Neon, and I think that anyone that says different is a retard. Unless you're talking about that mistake of a car, the Caliber.

Saying an SRT-4 isn't a neon is like saying an SXT-SE-ES isn't a neon..Swordfish2Cowboy wrote:You can take a heat gun to the lip kit, and with a little care, get it to fit your 02 bumper.DroopDaddy408 wrote:Will an 03+ bumper fit on an 02. Outside, yes. But the connector is different for the 00-02s than the 03-05s

The fender splash shields are different depending on model. The regular and ACR Neon use a fender liner that has a mud flap molded into it. The R/T and SRT do not because they have side skirts.
The two items you list for the front bumper are unique to the SRT as well. The SRT air dam is a flat part while the regular Neon is a molded more dimensional part. I'm not 100% sure about the filler, but I think it is also different because the shape of the SRT bumper.

Thanks for the info. Not sure why the parts guy came up with those numbers when I gave him my VIN.
Looks like the Air Dam is the right # though
