The fall and rise of Shyla...The End
Well, update time. Still no word on mystery woman. The repairs are being covered by the owner of the truck's insurance, so that is one less headache. I have been getting parts in slowly. The Dub bumper was the first to arrive . The nifty SRT parts are starting to show up. We'll have a CSRT-4 looking clone in no time
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...
I was talking to some friends about all this crap, and I remembered something one of the female paramedics said to my wife and I. We were behind the firehouse for about 5 mins before anyone came out to see what was going on. The paramedic (I can't remember her name) had confessed to my wife, and later to me that she didn't come out right away because she saw me and was scared to come out
This is what I look like...
She said after she talked to me she realized I wasn't going to go crazy (I was REALLY pissed) or anything, and that I was a really nice guy I forget that my outward appearance doesn't match my demeanor or personality at all. But it comes in handy when the situation calls for it. Might explain why the woman in the truck froze when I stormed her window and went off on her

I am really a big teddy bear (sad to admit) Most folks who meet me say they are scared of me untill I open my mouth. And since I like to keep folks quessing a bit, it works out well that way I supposeAdionik wrote:Holy shit, i'm scared to even return your PM's now
Goes to show that profiling is used in all kinds of ways. Yeah, no word yet on her. And thanks for the complement on the neighborhood. It is very surreal living there. My wife and I are living with her parent for the time being till we finalize our new house (soon I hope!) The house is F'ing HUGE!! It's in a gated community. They paid 750K 3 1/2 years ago, and even in this market they can list it for 1.3M and possibly get that. Needless to say, we don't fit in too well thereZeroChad wrote:Yeah gotta love stereotyping. Dang, too bad they haven't caught her yet. Your neighborhood looks pretty nice btw.

Lol yeah you're a really nice guy. But if I had gotten into a car accident and had someone of your stature approach me...(i'm assuming you're over 6') I would run like hell to

Time for an update.
Parts are starting to arrive The exhaust and Dub rear bumper have come in, along with this...
Yay! Comparing the two....
I have most of the bits needed for the bumper (grille, fog trim, etc.) but I'm still waiting for the CSRT hood. I may be the first to order these since there isn't even a part # for the hood and latch in the catalogs yet
Bumpers go to paint this week. Now she is nakie
More to come...

Wow thats a great comback for your wife's caliber. I'm really sorry to hear that this happened in the first place but it looks like you're making the best of it. Is she excited about all the upgrades being done?

Update. The hood is still on back-order...ship ETA is 4-14-08 But the front and rear bumpers have been sent to paint, along with the DUB side skirt kit I'll get some pics once they are painted. I've been wondering how the sides will flow with the SRT front bumper. Since the DUB front bumper is 1) Too expensive, and 2) Too aggressive, we think the SRT bumper would be the way to go.

I finally got her put back together...for the most part. Still don't have the hood or the lower front bumper panel, but she is drivable at least. My wife is happy with that
Here are some pics....
I cut the exhaust openings much smaller this time around...looks a lot cleaner
And the front...
The hood gap is annoying, but that will be fixed soon
The next posts will be the new hood and Dub side skirts

That's what I tell my wife. It makes her feel a LITTLE less grrr that the hood isn't here yetracer12306 wrote:sweetness. leave the gap, ram air ftw
I'll be sure to pass that on to her Yohansken_yo wrote:That is some hood gap... wow. Overall, shes coming together well... for a Caliber.
Thanks. If I was by myself, I would have. I may still be in jail for assault however I didn't know what the guy in the truck would do at that point, and my wife was in the car, so ehhh.GreeNeons03 wrote:Dude, sorry about your accident. I would have taken off after that woman.

Well...still no hood
So while I'm waiting, I got some things to start fixing the squishy handling.
First this
MP/DC Sports strut tower brace. Good fitting piece. There is an additional bracket that ties the center of the brace to the firewall/cowl panel. That will be done later.
The difference is noticeable. The car has lost a lot of the vague feeling in the front end, and fast transitions side to side are much more precice...even with the craptastic tires.
And I got a box today...
It even had goodies in it!
MP/KW 1.5" drop springs. This should further help Shyla's squishy nature BC has just introduced coil-overs with mounting plates (making them a complete drop-in) for $999.00. Nice, but these will do for now
More to come.

As always David, you made me grin. The springs will be going onto the stock R/T struts. They are still new, and while the springs will shorten their life a bit, they should be fine until the coil-overs go in...someday
And no...I like squishy Kitton (my wife) but not squishy cars.
