R/T Muffler adapter pipe availability?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

R/T Muffler adapter pipe availability?

Post by sidepipe87 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:55 pm

Would someone be able to look up the adapter pipe for the R/T muffler and tell me who stocks one, hopefully near Pittsburgh. Thanks in advance.

The part # from Chrysler is 82208484...MSRP $29.60

IIRC, it is a Walker part. I don't know the specs on it though. They are still available from Chrysler.

 No worries.

The only depots that show it are NAT (MI) and MLW (WI).

Any dealer should be able to special handle that for you at no charge. Should be there in 3-4 days if not sooner

oh cool! I thought If you had it ordered from another dealer, you'd have to pay shipping? If not, then I'll ask my dad to order me one. Thanks again for the help!

If you have a dealer order it directly from another dealer (and most won't) then I'm sure they would charge you more. But your local dealer will only charge you the normal price to order it from the depots. If they special handle it it will probably come from the NAT depot. The only time it is put on a D2D (dealer to dealer) order is if all the depots are out of stock. And D2D doesn't cost anything extra either (Chrysler pays shipping).

Ahhhh, ok. I gotcha. That's fine then. Just so long as I can get one ordered up It doesn't matter what depot it comes from haha.

It is basically an adapter to go from the stock mid pipe to the larger size of the R/T. I remember seeing one years ago and I thought it had the Walker sticker on it.

Well I just want it cheap as possible. Unfortunately is $26 for that small pipe. Theres one for sale online for $20 but shipping puts it over.

I wish I knew what the Walker # was. :cussing: It would be much less expensive and available from any parts store that sells Walker exhaust.

Walker doesn't list the R/T, just the ACR in their catalog.
http://www.walkerexhaust.com/catalog/Ex ... Screen.asp

But is the R/T muffler inlet pipe larger than the SRT? I know that the SRT rear section "bolts" right up to the 2" pipe in the rear of my 2001 se. It is a perfect fit. Just seems a bit odd to me.

Edit: Well crap the link won't go directly to it. You have to start from here: http://www.walkerexhaust.com/defaultEN.asp
And select catalog.

Hmm, yeah I don't see it there. That would be awesome to be able to get it directly from them and save some cash!

Well, It must be larger, that's why you need the adapter..... but yes, that seems odd.

I am still correct in assuming that the my R/T exhaust is 2 1/4" right? If it's 2 1/2" then i need to send out an email asap.

I sold my old R/T rear section, so I have nothing to use as a reference. The bad part about the Walker catalogs is that they show the sizes of their replacement parts, not the OE parts (yes, they are different).

I want to say the R/T section is 2 1/4" and the regular 2.0 is 2". I've only installed the SRT cat-backs and they do bolt up fine. Hell, even my MP/Borla SRT cat-back fit my ARC with no mods.

So, long story short...you may not need it but the Chrysler catalog says you do :-k

Exactly, If Walker makes one for Mopar, then it must be exclusive to them. From what I've seen all the factory exhaust neck down to 2" at the muffler inlet pipe, but the R/T's may be different. Danteneon may be able to tell if the midpipe to muffler connector is a different PN# from the R?T's

Walker does make it, but it is just a regular reducer (i.e. 2.25 to 2.0). There is no connector there normally...the mid-pipe and the rear section slide together.

The parts catalog doesn't help at all. The clamp for the standard 2.0 is shown as 2". The 2.0 HO uses a different clamp, but no size is listed.

And as a side note, the mid-pipe is different between the regular 2.0 and the H.O. It doesn't say what the difference is though.

Well Walker's website has a cross-reference guide, and I can't find it. So once I get my Thermal, and figure out whether or not I need the part (I'd assume I do) I'll have my dad order it for me.

The R/Ts have 2.25" pipes all around. I want to say most of the regular Neons past a certain year have 2.25" for most, but in certain areas they're necked down to 2.0". Same like the SRT-4. I have no idea where those areas are, though.

so.... i ask my dad to order the adapter for the muffler, and he says, "if you take the muffler off there and put duals on, you better make sure you don't speed because the cops will see a young kid in a car with dual exhausts and pull you over for no reason"..... I wasn't sure whether I should laugh or cry. This guy has an answer for everything. He's the only man I know who could make something negative out of any situation. Debbie Downer. haha, just needed to share that. But on a side note, I should have my duals on soon! Thanks for the help!

I get pulled over all the time. It's about once a month now. I've only gotten one ticket, and a lot of verbal warnings. And a few "not exactly a verbal warning but you better take it as one" sort of things.

Are you running the stock R/T setup or the SRT, or other? I see no reason why I should have any problems. It has a muffler.

Stock R/T. I'm just a dumb driver. Last time I got pulled over I forgot to turn my lights on. But I was kind of preoccupied...
