I left the sensor in so I wouldn't get any paint on the actual connector part. That sensor is broken anywayLilSparkPlug wrote:LOL that curtain rod is badass! Paint looks good on the manifold and VC as well but why did you paint the MAP sensor?

Every time I call my contact at JE it goes to voicemail. They've had my piston for just shy of two weeks now. This is gay.
Anywho, I'm thinking KC meet at my place some time very soon. Photoshoot, cruise, etc.

Blaze red color matched lettering on the vc today. I don't know if i want to do the "16 valve twin cam" or not, I'm thinking no. I like accenting the "turbo" aspect.
Yes I did it with Q-tips because I'm a resourceful mother fucker.

Well I'll be damned.
The tech at JE got both locks on. Now I just have to somehow get the piston on the rod without taking them off

I knew there was a catch! It came back today, fully assembled as described. As I was unwrapping it I thought to myself "could I really have been that stupid?". Just then a metallic plink plink plink sound broke my train of thought. I looked down and there on the ground sits my round wire lock. Immediately I turn the piston both ways to see if it fell out, but sure enough they were both there. So all along it was that damned round wire lock that was too big of gauge to fit in the groove. Yeah, the same one that I asked them to send me because I thought that was the problem. So apparently they sent me another one that was the wrong gauge. Ah well, at least after all that I have the correct gauge wire. *sigh*

No, the pistons are fine. The whole time they kept giving me the wrong round wire lock. They finally realized it when they actually tried it themselves.MyNeonSaysHi wrote:Argh. So whats next? Are you going to have to buy another set? You can't just buy one piston or can you? You have ran into a ton of problems. Huge learning expierence though. Hopefully all turns out well man. Keep us updated and take your time.
So now I'm waiting to get the head back from the shop, but apparently the first place that did my engine work a long time ago lost the lash adjusters. So I have to get new ones.

I doubt I have a strong case since it was like 4 months ago that I picked it up.

i admire your perseverance on this project. you will be happy that you stuck with it in the end.
believe me. if i had a project log it would be full of problems/issues, too. haha. but as previously stated, it provides one hell of a learning experience.
stick with it, your doing great.

Little update in case anyone is still following this besides me-
I was going to buy the lifters but I realized they are like $15 ***EACH*** (x8). So I called the shop, they were playing stupid, and now they took their phone off the hook. I'm currently going through the attorney general for a resolution.

Update: I went ahead and bought lifters online rather than wait around for the resolution through the attorney general. When I get the old ones I'll just sell them and take the hit on the difference in money. Got all 16 for about $130.
