Broken-ass Goldlines
Last Saturday, I went to change into my summer shoes since the snow is gone, and my right rear lowering spring was broken into 3 pieces! Fun stuff!
Looks like the coils of the spring bouncing against each other wore away all paint and it just corroded from there. These springs have roughly 90,000 miles on them. I've got my stock springs in now. This car drives REALLY nice, but doesn't handle as well. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do next.

I know, and I thought of you when I was taking them out. I'm guessing that yours were in much better shape than mine are. If it makes you feel any better, I have no idea when this broke, so the ride couldn't have changed much. Same amount of banging and clunking that I've always had in this car.Mat00ES wrote:Wow and I just put a used set in my car.
Stock springs for now. First priority is to get the 2.4L freshened up and into this car. If the 2.4L doesn't work, I've gotta at least do a timing belt and water pump on the 2.0L. After that, I'm not sure I feel like sinking any money into it right now.

My friend gave me a 2.4L out of an 06 Stratus. It has crank walk, but it's not bad. I haven't torn into it yet, but I'm pretty sure all it's going to need is a set of main bearings and a thorough checking of the crank journals to make sure it's ok. If not, I can always use an SRT-4 crank.Mat00ES wrote:Mine actaully rides decent.
What 2.4L are you putting in?

I mean... if I knew I'd get another 90,000 miles out of a set of Goldlines, I'd buy another set. Then again, I'm amazed at how nice this car rides now.

And I bought them... lolneon2ner wrote:exactly the reason i got rid of my goldlines and never bought a set again. i'm with crystalmarie, i had heard of goldlines doing that, so i ditched mine.
2½ years and 45 000 km later, they are still crapy lowering springs, but always in one piece.
