Anthony - I'll get a pic of the lid now, but it won't be on the car for a while. There are a few imperfections and I won't ride around not lookin fresh

Thanks Crystal

03blackrt - you know I was unsure if I wanted to paint the mirrors silver because the black tied in with the stripes well but I'll reserve my judgment for after I get the other mirror painted. It's been raining every day!

Got a present when I came home from work today

Yes, they're really H&R's and they're yellow. They're H&R Sport Limited Editions and as far as I know, I'm the only one on here with them. Best part is they only cost $99 new.

Will be installed Wednesday along with new bumpstops

Oh, the other mirror is now painted as well so they match.

I have no idea what the spring rate is, but everyone loves their H&R's and these claim to be 5 mm lower than their Sport springs for someone that wants a little more drop than the Sport but not as low or stiff as the Race springs. I figure they have to be stiffer than the 1gn ACR springs I have now. I'll find out tomorrow!

Here's where I got them

http://www.optionsauto.com/prodinfo.asp ... HR-50899LE

It was a smooth transaction. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again.

no... I misread on their site the first time and thought it said it lowered it an additional .5" from their Sport springs. Damn Canadians and their weird units of measurement

You saw the car, it's low but not as low as I was on the Mopars

Guess I better start saving for coilovers

Soooo I'm at work and I hate having so many things running through my head about where I ideally want my car at, so I'm writing it all down for reference. This is by no means a complete comprehensive list or all going to happen, but again... ideally. in due time.

EXTERIOR
  • shaved trunk lid/molded avs wing, trunk blackout
    some AAR cuda hood, black
    get rear AAR stripe crests
    SRT rear bumper
    depo black LED tail lights
    HID retrofit
    35% window tint
INTERIOR
  • SRT Viper seats
3 guage pillar (A/F, voltmeter, oil pressure)
Maddog sts (post 5 speed swap)
    boost gauge (post SRT swap)
    finish blue LED conversion
ENGINE/TRANS
  • 5 speed swap
full SRT engine swap (down the road)
    SRT exhaust
SUSPENSION
  • Hotchkis sway bars
    Prothane bushings (awaiting install)
    front/rear DC or Mopar STBs
    rear disc conversion (awaiting install)
    Coilovers (future, possibly Megan)

If I were to think about how much this is all going to cost, I'd clearly be insane. Then again, I already am for modding a neon, right? I know people say it's cheaper to just buy an SRT, but what fun is that? And also I think it'd pay off to do the swap because you save money by paying insurance for a neon. I'm poor and in college for another year. Hopefully when I graduate I can find a decent job and put a little more money into this car. I'm just taking it one day at a time in hopes of accomplishing my goals. Eventually this car will no longer be a daily and I'll either get another Neon or a Charger to drive so I can take it easy on my baby.

Second pair of aftermarket springs, yes. The Mopar ones were a little too soft for the terrible Pittsburgh roads and the fact that I had cut bumpstops didn't help either. The H&R's ride really nice

I'm very confused by some of this. Why do a 5 speed swap, r/t head swap, then a srt swap? If you just hold off and save your money, you'll have what you ideally want much faster..

Yeah, I hear ya. I actually just had an oppurtunity to buy a complete mag head, intake, exhaust for $225 on craigslist... the guy said there was a slight issue with the intake and I don't wanna deal with it. I found something else that I REALLY need from that list  hopefully I can make ti happen. I'll most likely leave the engine basically how it is until I swap which was my original idea.

So I haven't updated in a while. Been low on funds but I finally got my AVS spoiler and began molding it to the trunk lid. The fitment wasn't perfect by any means, but I made it work.

Here's the trunk lid I bought for $50 complete with carpet:

Image

I sanded the entire outside down to bare metal for maximum adhesion and prep work. no pics of it raw, but here it is after I attached the spoiler with silicone adhesive from NAPA and began fiberglassing it to the lid. After rough sanding is done on top:

Image

Image

I used NAPA silicone adhesive to attach it, and Bondo Fiberglass Resin Jelly and fiberglass mat to fiberglass the spoiler to the lid. If you wanted to do this more professionally, I'd use 3M Panel Bond Adhesive to attach it (I couldn't find it, plus it's very pricey) and use regular fiberglass resin instead of this green shit. I meant to get regular, clear resin and didn't realize it wasn't... this stuff worked fine though. Also, get a better filler than Bondo if you can such as Rage Gold. I just don't really like Bondo, but it's what I have to work with.

Hopefully I'll have the sanding and feathering completed soon so I can go over it with the filler, get it all smoothed down and ready for paint.

I also shaved the lettering down on my injector cover with a grinder with coarse sandpaper on it, then smoothed it with 100 grit. I began filling in the holes with styrene and filling over them. I will paint it when I'm done.

Image

I just ordered a 28" blue LED strip from Oznium for inside the trunk so I should have that by the end of the week. I'll update this when I have more to show.

lmao... oh I realize how clean it looks and I love it. the day may..... come. that I take them off. for now they's staying. After I get my SRT rear bumper, disc swap on and get the outside where I want it I'll consider. I need to upgrade to coilovers at some point too to drop it where I want it.
