Silverneontuner's Build: TURBO!

Post by silverneontuner » Sat Aug 15, 2009 10:38 am

Time has come for some real modifications. Ordered a 5 speed out of an 02 with 80,000 km on it. computer out of a 04 sxt to get me through the winter. Got the trans, pedals assembly, trans mount, shifter, clutch master /slave w bracket, axels for 725. Install is free and a friend of mine who works for a local Dodge dealer will flash my new pcm for $30. Me and my co worker have done homework on wiring mods im going to need allready orderd the VSS pigtail from the dealer thanks to Danteneon for the wiring pics and part number. Ill try to make a rough how to on this whole job. installing the trans is not going to be hard but the wiring changes can be a bit much for the backyard technician. My ATX has 118000 kms and started to develop a rough shift. A friend of mine recently supercharged his Dodge Magnum and another friend just upped his RHD 300zx to 28psi boost and he cant keep the tires on the road lol. What i am getting at is after this winter im going to be turbocharging this car. Something i have always wanted to do. After reading Glasswars build and how awesome it turned out it was my final push. All i gotta do is save the cash and i would like to buy the ASP kit. Here is a list of my current mods. After isntalling the cam with the mag intakee i definatley noticed faster accelerations and it pulls when the MTV's open up. Not crazy fast but better than stock and a noticeable increase for the money spent.

Engine:02 r/t cam,R/t valve springs,OBX short tube(junk) with cat delete, R/t Exhaust w Dynomax turbo camaro muffler(needs resonator),02 Magnum intake manifold the running with an MSD 8969 tach driver/window switch, Oh and an Autobots oil cap for artistic impression lol.

Exterior:Full mopar lip kit,9007 8000k HIDs from vvme. 17" motegi SP5's glossy black with a machined lip, red painted calipers, black painted drums(want a disc swap!),1st gen springs(2 summers on stock struts), Removed spoiler with matched spoiler plugs,Only badge i have on the car is the factory front dodge badge, one 5 inch decal on my back window supporting my friends car audio shop.

Interior:BUX km/h cluster($22 cad) w/ swapped odometer and rest of circuit board from my stock cluster also blue LED swap,Alpine 9881 head w iPod,alpine v power for my speakers, Twister f2190 amp for my eclipse 12" in a ps2 silver painted and ported custom sub box. I let my buddy build it im not car audio enlightend but the system is loud enough for me . Soon AEM wideband(more of a engine saftey/tuning mod) and glowshift gauges w/ chrome rings to match the bux cluster.

Its an obx short tube. I got it off of ebay and let me say that quality is i would say is 5/10. one of the welds developed a leak and i had to weld it. i heard the long tube is better though.

well guys i just finished the 5 speed swap with my friend/co-worker. wow easy job acutally.turns out that my car was pre-wired for the VSS for a 5 speed. stinking chrysler. also anyone who says that you can just bolt a 5 speed in an atx and driver away is full of shit. the car will NOT start with the atx connectors disconected. it needs to know that the car is in park or neutral which took me about 5 minutes to figure out but would have been a big problem for a back yarder with no scan tools. thanks to Danteneon for all his help getting me part numbers and wiring diagrams!. pics coming soon. interior is in shambles

Well. car is oodles faster with the swap... but my vss took a shit and i got code p0501 vss out of range hoping its just bad wiring on my end. i could always beat a new sensor out of the suuplier.

SOOOO happy right now!!. thanks again Danteneon for the wiring schematics!
