srt parts for swap!!

Doing a SRT-4 Motor swap into your Neon, maybe even a 2.4... have questions about it, what you'll need or what issues you'll run into? Answers can be found in here.

i just edited the title instead of making a new thread. ok, i just wanted to know what all is needed for an srt swap the reason i ask this, is so i know what i wont have to use and i can sell the rest to regain some of what i will be paying for the car. here is what i know i need

motor
trans
wiring
cluster
computer


also, if i have a doner car do i need to buy anything else ?? i probably sound like a pain in the ass but im just trying to firgure this all out so i know how much i can spend on one and around how much i will be able to get back on the parts i sell. thanks

If you're serious, talk to Matt (nitehawk). He's 20 minutes away from me. He swapped seisproth or something stupid like that.... his name is David "black eyed neon". Anyway, Matt has done this and I'm not gonna speak for him though so send him a message. PS where are you getting the swap?? I need to find one soon. Have your dad hook me up pleaseeeeee! :smile:

Seispiroth or whatever sold his Neon, IIRC, but I recall reading it ran well. Plus it was pre-NGC methinks.

It was pre-NGC, it was an 00. Shouldn't matter if he has the entire donor with all the harnesses. Are you sure he sold it? I don't think that was the case.

im getting a whole car from copart. i have ruled out the srt swap would be the best because, i priced out what it would cost to get an intake, exhaust,cam, header, udp, and some other misc stuff and it would cost almost 2,000$ to get the stuff i want. so i figured instead of spending the money on that why not go spend a little less and get a srt doner car that i can use pretty much every thing out of including the seats. not only will the motor have less miles on it than the current 98k mile motor in it, but it will be alot faster too. i could probably get my father to buy one for you but it would take about a month to get and theres no for sure i would be able to get/find one. With mine, i plan on taking what i want then parting out the rest. whatever doesnt sell witin 2 months will get scrapped.

Yeah, a full donor car was making it easier, but I'm just sayin' a '00 is the toughest to swap. I'm FAIRLY certain he got rid of it though. Unless I'm thinking of Sabersoul...

the srt is an 05 and the sxt is an 04 anybody see any issues i may have??

No. Still swap over ALL the harnesses though, because there are differences with the dash harness however it is small and I don't know exactly what it is.

search copart on google. you have to be a dealer or a broker to buy there though. ill talk to my father and see if he could maybe get you one. what are you looking to spend ? and what all do you want ? obviously the motor, trans harness ect. the reason i ask is because i need to know what kind of damage to look for.

Ideally I'd like an entire car, preferably smashed in the rear or the side. I want the whole front end, and all the harnesses from it so I'd prefer a collision that wasn't in the front. I don't even have all the money at the moment, but I'd be willing to go up to $3000 for an entire donor that is salvageable that I can take what I want and scrap the rest of it.

on a side note, when buying through them you must take into consideration that you must pay copart fee's for buying at their facilities, get it towed home(i know a guy that will do it at a reasonable price) and plus whatever you pay for the car. just figured i would tell you that. :D

My brother has a truck with a hitch, so if it's a reasonable distance shouldn't be too bad. What kind of fees does copart have? $725? dammnnnn. You suck, stealing my silver SRT :sad: My car is silver too. hmph.

well i dont know that copart will let an individual pick up the vehicle. Also, the car may be coming from out of state. put it this way i paid 725$ for my car and had a 1000$ total with all their stupid fee's. And the more you pay for a vehicle the more fee's you will have. As i said, that all should be taken into consideration when buying a vehicle through them.


PS: i know where i can get a clean title srt right now for less than 2k :rockon: (in pittsburgh! )

i paid 725$ for the car and 275$ in fee's. And lol yes, but it does come with the motor and trans. (at least thats what i was told) he said the motor was knocking. he will take 1500$ cash :D

as of right now, yes. but i only have 2000$ to spend total to my door. so if it does over a grand i probably wont be able to purchase it
