How about "other" OEM wheels???

In other words.... including OEM wheels that came on 'other' factory MoPars, that didn't come on 2nd Gen Neons, but will fit .....

One such example that I can think of would be the factory aluminum 14" rims that came on '89-92 Chrysler Imperials (lightest of all, 11-12 lbs ?)
They'll bolt right up .....

-2001 ACR w/SRT T/B bored out to 55mm

SRT4 ACR --------- 19 lbs

i found this site: http://www.superhonda.com/tech/wheel_weights.html
it shows the weights for a lot of aftermarket rims.

according to the site, rims from an '02 ACR weight 16.5 lbs

Cool, thanks for the info. I've updated the list and created a section for other wheels that will work as well.

Anyone know the steelie weight?

the 7 spoke stock sxt are 17-17.5 based off the bathroom scale.

I got a set in my garage I can take to the post office and get an exact weight if you want.

If your up for it, then sure. It may benefit people down the road. The 01-02 R/t is off of Diabl0's scale.

Well since different size tires can fit the same rim you would have a lot of work to do.

yeah it might not be worth it, hence why i said "ballpark/avg" total weight.. if you wanna get crazy could factor in rotational mass with sprung/unsprung weight but that would make a long as post... although a good one...

Yeah, it got sticky!

I took a stock 7 spoke sxt to the post office and with valve stems and fancy chrome valve stem covers and the scale said 17lb 10.2 oz (or 17.625lbs) If I weren't on crutches I would have brought all 4 and got an average for y'all

IIRC my 15x7 Rotas were 12lb 12 or 13 oz without valve stems so I shaved a good 4 1/2lbs + per wheel... and I can feel it (not to mention getting an inch wider with a 35mm offset...so sexy!)

Image

I am searching the other.org and found this

http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t ... snowflakes

I know I saw a pic of a snowflake on a scale...trying to find it...found it...16.205lbs

Updating it now, dang getting things to line up is tricky.

Thanks for the info! I'll go ahead and create a "Popular Wheels" section on the bottom as well.

Any updates or links to pictures are welcome!

Google Image Search. All the pictures you need. Also, the weights are hyperlinks, some of them have pictures.

Good idea on the weight listings! You never know when you may need this info.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Odd...I've weighed 7 spoke SXT wheels on 2 different occasions, from 2 different sets, and gotten 16.67 pounds each time.

I can get a pic of said wheel on the scale, for visual proof - I'll edit this post tomorrow.

I'll also get a pic of the 89-92 Imperial wheel, as well as the 1gn bubble alloy, if I can find one w/out a tire on it.

Ok, couldn't find a 1gn bubble alloy (they got sold), but I did weigh and pic 3 - best when viewd w/MS Picture and Fax Viewer (allows zoom):

1gn 14" steelie, 16.607#:
Image

89-92 chrysler Imperial 14" alloy, 12.424# (has center cap):
Image

2gn 7 Spoke Alloy, 16.708#:
Image
The difference in my previously stated weight is that this wheel has a balance weight on it; the other did not.

14 inch imperial and fifth avenue wheels

Post by gearbanger4 » Sun Nov 28, 2010 10:41 pm

So, i was looking at this thread awhile back and was/still am interested in these wheels. Does anyone have a picture of these 14 inch aluminum wheels installed?

Also, what is the width of this wheel and typical tire size? Hard to believe any decent width/performance tire would fit on these wheel, despite the decent subtraction in weight that would result.

Just curious what to expect before i drop the $$ on them.

thanks

I actually have a set installed on one of my Neons now. :)
I run these with my snow tires.

You would not know the difference in appearance, since I am running these with hubcaps.
They look absolutely stock that way. :-**

The size of the Imperial aluminum rims, is the same as a stock 14in. steel wheel on a Neon.

I'll see if I can't get a picture of these mounted on my car, later, during daylight.

OH.... Just for reference..... I believe the picture of the aluminum rim posted by 'Maddog' above, is actually one of my own. ( I loaned it to him, to get it weighed.)
