mine is the biggest!!!

Post by Jenni » Sun May 29, 2011 4:42 pm

like i wrote recently my 9" screen died.
So i thought i could do some bigger this time an i installed a 10.2" touchbutton screen.
I am pretty sure it is the biggest TV screen in a Neon dash!

(Sure - i could just replace the 9" screen but i sold the bezel to a friend - cause i still owed him one - and made everything new.)

Here you can see the brand new screen next to my quick and dirty 7" screen. Notice how effin huge the 10.2 is!
And mind one thing: most double DIN radios are at most 7 inch!

why do you need bigass tvs when driving? doesnt make sense to me. I would pay more attention to driving safely than a tv in the car

hmmm, at your age you should better do!

but i have a wife and a daughter.
and they wanna watch movies on long trips.
else than that my multimedia hard disc is much more comfy to use on a big screen - even for the music menu.

i don't watch while driving. is just a question of self control.

I wish I could do that. It's ILLEGAL to have a tv in the view of a driver up where we live and if the police see even the blank turned off screen they can give you a "careless driving" and impound your car. It happened to a buddy of mine with his Audi.

But damn good job tho man...never seen someone do that in their kitchen and have it comeout so good.

really?
what about stock navigation/radio/computer/dvd systems like in Audi, Mercedes, BMW and whatever?
What about double DIN radios?

They cannout impound your car and give you a ticket for nothing!

It CANNOT be forbidden to have a TV screen in the car if you only watch movies while the car parks somewhere.
That would be very ridicculous!

Here in Germany it is not forbidden exactly by law but police tries to give tickets for "driver is distracted by his load".
But that is BS - they have to prove the correlation between the screen and my driving style.

Oh and btw:
it is not directly in my view - i have to look downwards right to see the TV...
would be maybe something else if it was ON the dash...

Did you plug the vents or just let it be and let the air come out the sides?

Danke schön!

The funnel is just open behind it.
I almost never use the middle vents.
And if i use it in the summer - the cold air is just blowing behing the screen and cools down the radio, the hard disc (it gets pretty hot) and the screen.

10.2" touchbutton screen from ebay
i had 9" from the same company and it was very good (meeeh, till it died after >2 years)
it has a 2nd input for the reverse camera and it is automatically switching when i shift into reverse gear
(i really like that!)

btw: i am pretty sure it is possible to install a bigger screen into the passenger airbag tray - but that will look very ridicculous and would be very dangerous (don't wanna see someone crashing his head into that screen!)

Here in IL, if you get caught with it on, it's a careless driving ticket. But if you don't even have it on but is wired so it could be turned on while the car is moving, you can get an equipment violation. That's not really a ticket they give out though unless you're a dick to the cop and he wants to throw the book at you.

i guess you should find it also in the states.
it is not made in Germany.
just search for 10.2
11 sounds nice - but if it comes w/o the monuting frame it is a pita to fiberglass it - and to install it into the car (because the screws for the hvac bezel sit behind the screen. so if the screen is inseparably mounted to the bezel - how to install the whole thing w/o visible screws? and else than that: such a frame is way easier to embedd into the fiberglass work!)

yeah it's ok if it's a manufacture item, still can't have it on tho. and if the cop wants to push it they are in the wrong mood.

Here a careless is at the minimum $500.00, plus a court date to see the judge and see if u get a 1yr (or more if u've had careless tickets before) and if the fine might be raised from $500 up to $1500 or somewhere in that range. I had that happen to me in an accident using a GPS and I went to court and managed to convince the judge and Crown to drop it from careless to following too close. and ever since then I have stayed away from that kinda stuff in the car lol

BUT DAMN DUDE I LOVE THAT SCREEN!!!!!!!! I SO WANT ONE!!!!!! LOL
