Ground-breaking for GM but nothing new for Chrysler

I read this same article in Wednesday's New York Times. Interesting that Chrysler made a profitable compact car (the 1GN Neon) while paying Belvidere workers full union wages but, of course, this article makes no mention of that.

Too bad it's not Chrysler that is building these, however.

I'd buy it, if it was !!

It is too bad, however, that Chrysler and M-B made the mistake of thinking "too upscale", and didn't want to build "economy" cars for "poor folks" (cough) anymore, and wanted to build only Big Trucks and SUV's......and that kind of thinking, almost killed them.

Belvidere plant is being coverted right now to build a dodge branded compact car....if it gets over 40mpg then the goverment gives fiat another 5% ownership

I thought Chrysler is not owned by the govt anymore?

It looks really similar to an Aveo. But i like the hatch and the fact that it has a 6 speed! Depending on power i would consider getting one unless i found a srt for a good deal

Must be why they didn't make the Aveo RS
