The Fix

"Dear Mr. President,
Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.
Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new AMERICAN Car. Forty million cars ordered - Auto
Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing
Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their
taxes..
Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social
Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!"

Forget that. Congress needs to start using their own money to help with the debt. The more they make, the more debt we are in!

Try again. He said 40,000,000 people in the work force not 40, and 1,000,000 a piece.

40,000,000x1,000,000 does not equal 40,000,000

That's $40,000,000,000,000 or 40 trillion dollars. That's almost 3 times more than our current nation debt. Where would you get said $40 trillion dollars? China? So you want to make us more dependant on other countries?

Ok, let's say 40 million 50 year olds retire all at once. How many of those people are scientists, doctors, technicians, teachers, etc. Boom, gone. Do you think that just some random Joe Shmoe on unemployment can just fill that person's position? Not to mention training involved and time lapsed in order to get this 'new' workforce started. It'd be a national disaster.

You'd actually be surprised how minuscule that tax amount would be towards the national debt. There was a report done awhile back on something Michael Moore said about having EVERY rich person in America give away all their money. That might seem like a ton of money, but once it came down to it, it barely would keep our heads above water. And that's with EVERY RICH PERSON giving away ALL their money; not just taxes.

Sooo you'd want them to raise taxes, in order to compensate for struggling SS and Medicare, so that they would be ok? Sure, put more taxes on the already struggling middle class. But don't worry, if your 'amazing plan' came to fruition, Social Security would be crushed once all those 50 year olds, who you forced to retire, came of age.

With those 1st grade math skills, I think you'd do much worse than the last 5 people who ran Chrysler.

Give Ford a cookie for trying? They are the only one who isn't in the crapper and didn't take US money to support themselves for their decisions. They have also just had one of their highest profiting quarters since the economic decline.
