tires on 15's
will the stock 15's take a 205 size tire?
Stock will wheels take up to a 225/50 or 235/60.
So many neons so little time.

I guess it depends on the wheels too..I am using 1996 passat wheels that have a 40mm offset...that is the same as the stock neon so it should fit just the same.
I am thinking 205/60 or 225/50 and from the finger test of how close the perches are either should fit fine.

so there have been many minutes wasted on this but 225/50-15s will fit on a 15x6 safely, even manufacturers have been recommending them as a fit because of SCCA rules requiring stock size wheels but allowing varying tire sizes.
The 225/50s are slightly shorter than a 205/60 and the 215/55s seem to be a very weird and hard size to find in 15s even though it is a very common size in 16s.
I have 205/50s and they look nice as far as width, but are way too short w the amount of drop I want-will still look all 4x4 style so I am thinking the 225/50s fit all my needs and they are only 20mm wider than what I have now so are not a huge jump...

my two cents pay attention to height versus the struts ... unless you're racing the car, width isn't as importantgreybox wrote:so there have been many minutes wasted on this but 225/50-15s will fit on a 15x6 safely, even manufacturers have been recommending them as a fit because of SCCA rules requiring stock size wheels but allowing varying tire sizes.

Tirerack.com has the specs on most of those tire sizes. Almost all of them list 6-8" wheel sizes as acceptable .Canada wrote:Not safely on a 6" wide wheel for daily driving.invujerry wrote:Stock will wheels take up to a 225/50 or 235/60.
However, you wont need anything like that. I'd stick to 205/50 or 205/55/15 tires. I ran 225/50/15 drag radials and they muffin topped pretty bad on my 7 spokes.

the 205/55 or even a 215/55 or 215/50 would be okay..the 205/50s just look too 4x4...got those now...and the most I want to drop it is 1.8 inches
I definitely appreciate the feedback though...
I think the drag radials are supposed to mushroom though because of compliant sidewalls as far as I have heard...like the old wrinkle wall drag slicks

185/60 on the left, 205/50 drag radial on the right:
195/60/14 on the left, 225/50/15 on the right:

If you think 205/50 is too 4x4, then you won't like the other sizes you mentioned. All of them have more sidewall than the 205/50.greybox wrote:the 205/55 or even a 215/55 or 215/50 would be okay..the 205/50s just look too 4x4...got those now...and the most I want to drop it is 1.8 inches

It would look better on a 15x7 wheel.greybox wrote:I meant 4x4 cause of extensive wheel to fender gap-need a taller tire to eat some of that space
and that 225/50 on that gold wheel looks great!
