Antenna

Post by C1DoG » Sat Aug 20, 2011 4:48 pm

Since the Haynes manual is no help. I am looking to install a hidden antenna. Can I just pull out the original antenna lead? Next to doing everything else to get the stock antenna out.

From the FSM...
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative
cable.
(2) Remove antenna mast by unscrewing mast
from antenna body.
(3) Locate the antenna lead disconnect in the
instrument panel wire harness above the passenger
side cowl trim panel. Disconnect the antenna cable
from the instrument panel cable lead.
(4) Unfasten push pins from the rear of the plastic
inner fender shield and move shield to gain access to
the base/cable assembly (Fig. 2).
(5) Remove cap nut and adapter. Remove base/cable
assembly from bottom of the load beam.
(6) Connect battery negative cable.
Then you need an antenna delete plug.

Or Jerome will sell you his patented delete kit V1 to cover the hole. ;)

Thanks. I e-mailed my local dealership to see if they have any left or can get their hands on one.

So after I take out the factory antenna lead. I can go ahead and use the new antenna lead for the hidden antenna?

I don't think antenna delete plugs have been available for a good many years now. They are one of those rare parts that ppl guard with their life. (Hence the rolling eyes)

I'm sure if you got creative, you could make something work. Besides electrical tape. :P

I answered the other question in Gnu's thread.

Just take your stock antenna and sit it along the inside of your fender.
