It's close by me, I can go investigate the mileage if you'd like for proof and take a picture of the odo.

I'll try to sneak over there tomorrow, not sure if they'll be open. I'm intrigued by it.

The owner kept it clean... but the signs are there for the mileage.

Curious the dealer has no shot of the odo, but one of the radio.

My '95 1GN had 121K on it when I traded for my first 2GN in '02. My Dodge mechanic said that it was like new due to my following the maintenance schedule religiously.

I'll bet that CM finds that the odo reading in the ad is correct- the $1,995 asking price gives it away (I've seen Neons of that vintage going for $4K to $7K frequently).

I've had 2 first gens around the 200k mark. Doesn't really surprise me. The motors will do it if well cared for. Now the suspension, on the other hand, will need every bushing on the car replaced. But for that price, it may be worth it. Good car to buy for an enthusiast that's going to end up rebuilding the motor anyway and upgrading the suspension.

I may not get out of here today to check on it. Too many trees down. I know the people at the dealer, we've been buying cars from them since the 80s so the chances of it being wrong are slim, but I still want to see it with my own eyes. :)

Because the body is in sound shape, talk them down to $1500, throw a $200 engine in it and possibly a $200 trans and you're good to go :)

I can't imagine why anyone would pay that much for the shell. About two months ago, I was offered a complete
2001 Neon Highlines that needed an engine for $100.00. Body, paint, and glass were all in great shape, but the
owner wasn't willing to pay for installation of another motor.

I didn't need another car, so I passed.

I hope you're joking?...... It's a solar yellow 5 speed with a good body that runs for $2000.... Idk about down there, but up here that's a good price. I've wanted SY ever since I started looking for my first neon. Like CM said, even if it needs a tune up I will have a spare engine here soon with 60,000 miles on it. I don't have room for a 3rd neon or this would be mine.

Cheap, haggard 2000's can be had anywhere for cheap. This is 3 years newer, 5 speed, and a color that is fairly rare and I'd love to have.

I wish I had the cash I'd snag the little guy too, although our third neon cannot be yellow, I've already been told that . But I love my SY....wouldn't trade him for anything :)

Maybe I should export cars to "yankee land" ... with no road salt, we don't have the rust problems down here,
but the lousy roads take their toll on the structure. I've spent a fortune having the Stratus front suspension
rebuilt ... I'm no mechanic, so high mileage cars are expensive to own :(

Not that hard to believe.

Especially if the PO had a lot of highway traveling. The car is almost 9 years old, possibly over 9, depending on the build/sale date. My father put over 300000 miles on both a Dodge Omni, and a Dakota in about 5 to 6 years each, and both were still running when sold. Other than standard tune up/wear stuff, the Omni went through two transaxle rebuilds, but the engine was all original. The Dakota only got a clutch, which still falls under wear items.

As long as it was kept clean, and cared for, it is totally believable. Like said, the price tag is a god match. A car that clean with only 33,000 miles would bring $5000 to $8000 here.

^ lol that's optimistic.

Bill, it looks like an early 03 from the picture of the rear bumper... so it was probably built in '02. I don't think 333k is unbelievable, but with the car as clean as it is that's crazy... especially being that it's a neon. Hell I see them with 30k beat to shit. Someone must've really loved that thing

:) My curiousity got the best of me, so I called Kyle Lamoureux, the salesman. He says that the car actually has 333,000+ miles.
The previous owners lived in western Massachusetts ... 40 miles from anywhere, and obviously took good care of the car.
