Magnum manifold brace picture?
Can someone with an r/t or acr post up a picture of the bracket supporting the bottom of their intake manifold?
I Ordered part #04891571aa, Which is supposed to be the support bracket for the r/t and acr intake manifold. The diagram shows it mounting to the front edge of the bell-housing flange. I don't have any bolt holes in this spot, so im wondering where the heck it is i mount this bracket too on the engine. Thanks for the help.

Magnum
Plastic
It looks like both styles use the holes by the starter in the bell housing. Not 100% if they are the same spacing. If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll compare the two brackets at those holes.
A few members have had the IM crack at the flange. $11 is cheap insurance, if the bracket can be used.

i bought the bracket for that very reason, but i don't have those bolt holes in my bellhousing, nor do any of the mtx trannys i have seen.
I just figure if i can brace the manifold, why not. Sure lots of people run without, keep in mind though , i live in Ontario, where it gets down to -30 in the winter time. Cold weather makes aluminum Very Brittle.

Good point, about the cold making things more brittle..... Midwesterners should know all about that !!gilly02le wrote: I just figure if i can brace the manifold, why not. I would run the bracket, too. Better safe, than sorry.
*Maybe* it would be possible, to modify, 're-work' or 're-engineer' the bracket for the plastic intake, to brace the Magnum intake ?? ( depending upon your fabrication skills or access to some tools )
Just a thought......

it looks like my car would have to use a modified plastic manifold bracket. makes sence i guess, the 2000 would have only been designed for a plastic manifold, as magnum motors weren't available yet.
I'll probably just end up keeping this bracket for something else, and weld up my own bracket.
I'd still like to see the stock bracket location on someones motor, or at least a comparison shot between a cable bellhousing, vs hydro. See if only the hydro trans came with those bolt holes, Which is probably the case.

I sourced those pics from an '04 parts PDF. Finding pics of the magnum IM in the earlier years is like a needle in a haystack. Not sure why it took until the last year. Oh yeah, Daimler...
I thought of that possibility too, but I wasn't sure if the '00 bracket was the same as the '01. I'll have to see if the '00 parts shows the bending strut bracket.

So i've come to a conclusion, The support bracket can only be used on cars that have a hydraulic mtx. Cable mtx bell-housing has no bolt holes below the starter, to mount the bracket to. Interestingly enough, my 02 41te that used to be in my car, Did have the bolt locations for that bracket, Even though, they never made automatic r/ts... its all a bit of a jumble. Has more to do with 2000 being the first year of the changeover to the 2nd gen platform.
FWIW - the plastic manifold Will Not work for the metal manifold, it's too tall by about an inch or more. would be easier to make your own bracket, Which is what ill end up doing.. Anyone interested in a my brand new bracket i can't use lol.

If nothing else, maybe you can use the plastic-style bracket, as a 'form' or a 'pattern' to use, for fabricating your own.gilly02le wrote:So i've come to a conclusion, The support bracket can only be used on cars that have a hydraulic mtx. The ATX bell housing has those two holes due to the plastic IM strut using those two holes also. (See above pic) Whether or not the 31th for '00 and '01 has the holes I don't know. But yeah, there was no use for those in a cable bell housing.
A possibility, would be to use a longer bell housing bolt, and adapt the Magnum bracket to slide over that, and use a nut to hold it. I'm sure with just one point instead of two, it will be just as effective.
From Dante's post, it looks like a simple 90º welded to the bracket will do. The bolt is centered between the two holes. That bolt will be there no matter which transaxle is used.
