T350HD
I was reading some threads and they talked about the t350hd transaxle. What transmission is that? And is that the best to go with for handling a lot of HP and torque? How much can my stock t350 handle with a clutch upgrade?
As always thanks!
As always thanks!
Sorry for Party Rockin
you already have one all transmissions after 2000 are the t-350hd

The 1gn uses 8620 steel gears while a 2gn uses stronger 9310 steel gears. The spline count and ring gear tooth count are different from gen 1 to gen 2. So it is impossible to use a 1st gen ring gear with a 2nd gen output shaft or vice versa.
1st trans have a fail point close to 300hp
2gn trans have a fail point close to 500hp

It won't help how much power the MTX will handle, and could actually make things break faster, because it will help keep the power distributed to both axles/tires.
So you will hook up better. thus putting more power to the tires, and what they can get to the pavement. That might be more than the components can handle.
The most common thing to break is an axle shaft, so if you don't upgrade the hell out of the axles, the MTX should be safe.
Of course common sense goes a long ways here, as in don't do a clutch drop at every single take off. Putting the max power to it at speed has a much lower chance of breaking things than from a dead stop/slower speeds.
Just try to keep the tires as the first thing to give, and the axle shafts as the next thing. Both are easier to replace than the MTX.

it is a drug it helps you hallucionateNGCnoproblem wrote:Awesome. So what about an lsd? What will that help with exactly
but seriously
it helps transfer power to BOTH front wheels instead of the one wheel peels we get it will help traction it is not a save all though.
by putting power down and more traction you can break things easier. it is also expensive for a solid lsd setup
youNGCnoproblem wrote:Ok cool. Is there axle upgrades? Is this somethin that should be considered doing? And is there ways to build up the internal of the transaxle?
you can go crazy and cryo treat your gears but to be honost its not needed i have no idea your power goals. They do sell beefier axles alot of the time wheel hop will kill your axles not so much power going "through" them

LSDs make you hook up 100000x better. I put in a quaiffe last year and was amazed at how awesome it was. When you install one, you'll want to get new differential bearings and races, and re-shim the race in the bellhousing to make sure the bearings have proper preload.
There are also oiling modifications to be done to the trans that can help it live longer. This requires disassembly of the transmission to get to the oiling holes, which tend to plug up in higher mileage transmissions that never had an oil change. You'd be amazed at how many I've taken apart that were completely clogged in the input shaft.
Clogged holes prevent oil from getting to the needle bearings under the gears and this can happen:
Perma-4th gear!

Depends on what is worn. Generally about $400-500 including return shipping/parts for just a differential install (setting up new bearings as well). I also power wash, media blast, acid etch, and clear coat the case so it looks like this when done:NGCnoproblem wrote:How much does that cost
Here is how the oiling holes are modified:
All the seals will be replaced, including the input shaft seal, which is part of an assembly that includes the snout for the throwout bearing to ride on:

Thanks. Takes a good day to get the case cleaned up like that. Usually start out covered in oily sludge and all oxidized. I spent lots of money on all the specialty tools to work on them. Not cheap lol.Fuzzyneon wrote:That is some beautiful work i will keep your name in mind for future projects wow just awesome

yeah what your charging is a deal i know it isnt easy to clean up a trans like that let alone do the lsd install and i know its time consumingchipdogg wrote:Thanks. in stock form honestly the t350 is more reliable, both are great though once you take care of their flaws.
