Neon is retired..... :(

Post by RADARsx 2.0 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 12:23 pm

Well...the Condensor unit in my car crapped out. It was gonna cost about $500 for it to be fixed...I just found that a little to expensive and inpractical with a 4mth old. So I am selling her for $700 OBO....and bought a 2000 saturn SCI sedan. It has 200kms on it and got it for 1000 certified and 1 year bumper to bumper warrenty on it. So i think that was pretty good. Just my son doesn`t do heat very well and well it`s been a retardedly hot season up here this year. I want to keep it but she`s needing more work than i really want to get into....got the blue one still if i really want to get another neon on the road....but time will tell.

I wouldn't have bought a Saturn.... that's just me though.

Sold a 2004 car to buy a 2000 car over a $500 repair?

Didn't the Saturn cost more than $500?

Mike, buddy, something doesn't add up. I sold my broken 2001 for $2k. Why would you sell your '04, with only a bad condenser, for $700?

I'm with them man.

$500.00 < $1000.00 car that is 4 years older than yours.

You sold the Neon for $700, so you still had to come up with the $300 to buy the (older) Saturn. If you could get the $300, just come up with the extra $200 and fix the Neon. Too late, I know...

And where the heck did you find a lot that would give you a one year bumper to bumper warranty on a 13 (model)year old car?
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

You will only find certified used cars that are still under factory warranty or just out of it. Not 13 year old cars.

It doesn't make sense to some. But wife was starting to hate it. the front end cost me 300 two weeks earlier, then the 500 for the condensor, was gonna need brakes and winter tires by end of summer another 800 to 1000 there. the rocker panels were rotting through. (needed replacing or major body fill job) and still needed a timing belt it was the original at 300 000kms....so i just decided to get ahead of it and buy her what she wanted and keep everyone happy....got the car from my parents mechanic...who's known my dad since before i was born. It was his personal car. used it as his winter car. has new tires (set of summer and winter) water pump, thermostat, brakes, altinator, cat converter, muffler and he gave me the warrenty cause I lost my place 2 mths ago in the fire, then my dad 5 days later and then my car started acting up alot....so I'm honestly ahead guys.... even tho it's not a neon..... but the neon isn't sold yet...selling for 700...might keep it for the blue one I have that needs a new head cause a two valves are shot in that one....haven't totally decided on that one yet.

Now that you have explained your situation better. It makes a whole lot of sense now.
Drove my neon until it was killed in a flood.

Sorry....forgot that not everyone knew the total situation of the neon.....My appologise. But thank you all for being worried about my decision...I wish the saturn was a neon but...couldn't find something that was road ready....or close to it....and that my wife not being a fan of neons in the first place don't help either lol

LOL thanks Chris....I wish....but gotta do what makes momma happy right? and the saturn she really liked so I'm screwed to having to give up the neon....I just had a guy walk by and call my cell cause I didn't have a price on it and told him 1000 as is...he said he'd take it for that price...just wants me to get it to his mechanics garage for a safety....so I pulled a favor with a towing company my company does work with and they are gonna tow it down (don't have plates on it) for $25.00 so I thinks im gonna win....took everyones advice and raised the price to a grand... :)

All of our used cars even the as-is turds are marked "Cantusenameofdealership Certified" it means nothing except higher prices. The GM Cert. program is pretty good however

Well it got to the garage and all it needed was 300 in work and the guy said he still wanted it and to have my family mechanic fix and safety it. I came by and gave me the $1000 for it and he's happy. He had a 98 before...it died and has wanted one again and seen mine round town and loved it so when he had a chance it scooped it up. He's 30 something...think 33 or 34. But I just made clear on mine. So I can't complain...just i'll see my old neon round town.... :( which sucks cause i didn't want to get rid of it lol
