Bad news though... My friend works at Dodge. He tried to hook it up. At his cost I could get the rack for only $114! But when he went and tried to place the order..Turns out Dodge does not have it anywhere... A company called Vintage Auto bought them all. And they have to buy it back from him. $26X now. Which is still doable since I have myr eceipt for my reman rack from O'rielly's... $325. Lifetime warranty on it. I will be able to get my money back I believe. Since it is bad. This will pay for most of my manual rack conversion.

That's the biggest problem with a lot of those Lifetime Warranties...if it is on a POS part, all you get is another POS part and you get to spend even more of your time (or your money if someone else is installing it) replacing it.
I hope I can post some pictures up soon of my manual set-up. It isn't mounted yet, so other than the cool mounting bracket Chris clued me in on, I got nothing.

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Well my other choice was carsteering.com and they could make me one for $365 shipped.JeffM wrote:Jesus, that's a lot for just a manual rack. No wonder people just run the SRT rack as a manual.

As for the warranty is concerned. I went to OReilly with my Oreilly reman part that I used and they warrantied it as a "Warranty return" in the computer. I got my money back for it and the pully even though it was on my car. Not sure if it will work with my SRT rack due to its cost.

I did this once......
http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f213/ma ... ost5654621
use the steering coupler for the RECALL that 95 neons had with manual steering, if possible. wish I had the part number...but I no longer have access to dealer connect
I don't know if the 95 neon couple with correct splines will fit as a "direct" bolt in, as once I started bolting the subframe back up with the 95 coupler in my old 03 SRT, the top of the couple was pushing up on the steering joint pretty hard and I was worried it would bind or break.....so I dropped the subframe AGAIN and took the couple out, cut a 1/2 section out of the cylinder portion of the coupler and re-welded it back together.
Worked great! Many drag passes as well as daily driven for awhile. Looking back though, I would probably only use the 95 manual rack again in a drag ONLY car. IMO

Once? What do you mean? I doubt I will get the part that Dodge recalled. All the parts are ordered. Now its the waiting game. Have to steer quite a bit I bet! Driving the car to work tomorrow with the lines looped. Getting the AC evacuated at Jiffy Lube for free. No more freon.

MyNeonSaysHi - oh, I just meant "once" as in I installed a 95 neon manual rack in a 2g.
I was just posting a link to some obstacles that I came across and how I adressed them, in case you or anyone else was curious.
And the recall part # was the same updated 95 neon manual steering coupler, just with a different (and cheaper) P/N.
good luck with the swap, I also dropped all my A/C (minus the evap in the dash) at the same time.

Why would they still sell a recall part number? I remember reading a thread somewhere where it was like a $60 difference. Should of dug more...Mine was like $87 new for the coupler. :/ I wonder why it was recalled. So I take it the recall part # would fit better. Thank you very much! I will probably have more questions along the way.

Most likely by law, they have to.
I am glad they still stock recall parts. Helped me out on some brake line attaching pieces on the 1gn. $4.90 beats $28.00, and discontinued.
Especially when you need 4 of them.
Of course I'm sure once the stock is gone, it is gone.
Recall parts do not have the same PN format either, FWIW.

They want a vin incase you're trying to buy a recall part number on a car that either doesn't need the recall done or already had it done.
So many neons so little time.

I have obtained a full set of the recall brake lines for a '95 Neon, just by giving the (cooperative) dealership, the part number.
Since I gave them the p/n, they never asked me for the VIN, but they could have been dicks, if they wanted to.
I was probably fortunate. I drove over and picked them up.

My local dealer refused to get me the parts, and the dealer I ended up getting them from (2 hours away) had marked them up. I ended up paying $90 for them.

Knowing you PN beforehand can be helpful. But giving them the wrong PN also can be not helpful, for returning the part, since You specified.
The '95 brake part #'s are readily available searching Neons.org. The steering parts, I have no clue, unless you have access to the recalls for that model, and year.
