My R/T was a 4 door ... I'm comparing my old R/T to a new Rallye that has a 2.0 engine, that I "test drove" at a local dealership.Canada wrote:His R/T was a 4 door I'm pretty sure.
Regardless of your opinions on the new Dart, it's difficult to compare it to anything. Compared to the old Dart it's worlds ahead, but it should be, it's been 50 years.
theColonel is trying to compare his top model R/T Neon to a base model Dart, which isn't fair either. Especially once you compare like for like. Try comparing
your old R/T to the new GT and you'll see a shift in your comparison.
I'm looking forward to the new GT, even though it won't have 235 hp like the 1965 Dart GT. I want a N/A engine, turbocharged
cars don't do well in New Orleans' heavy traffic.

As I read the Allpar article, it has a manual transmission ... I don't like the one blue seatMidnight_Rider wrote:http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/20 ... t-revealed

I agree on the seat. maybe a black with a blue stripe on the seat.. but not a totally blue one. it still looks amazing on the outside.Canada wrote:Yup, Gramps, manual only.
Colonel, I'm on the fence about the seat, I think it's unique and cool, but it may get kinda weird after the initial cool factor wears off.

This time I did not waste my time with the salesmen I have delt with for years and went straight to the top. I've got the GM involved this time
Atleast this way if the 13' Dart is a preorder, maybe he can get in on it so I can get a low number model

The fact that it "replaced" the Neon? Didn't the Caliber do that? LMAO.
2013 Dodge Dart ... heavier than a Caliber, with a Fiat 500 engine

The limited production thing is kind of cool. But I wonder what the price difference will be with the SRT-4 version. I could care less about the GT. Still under powered and fat. Doubt insurance would be that much of a difference for a middle age man...BlackRoseRacing wrote:What SRT-4......MyNeonSaysHi wrote:Why not just wait for the SRT-4?
The RT is no longer being released, it's now called the GT...
So who knows for sure if and when an SRT will be out, plus the Mopar 13 wont have the insurance rates an SRT would and it's a limited production special

Dodge says performance-minded Dart R/T still in the works
Dodge may have replaced the Dart R/T with the GT for the time being, but the Auburn Hills-based automaker promises that a true performance version of the compact sedan “is going to come.”
The Dart GT ticks all of the typical boxes of a R/T model – including a more powerful engine, sinister styling and a nappa leather interior – but Dodge says it is reserving the R/T badge “for something more aggressive, more special.”
“(The R/T version) is going to come, and (the Dart) will continue to improve,” Dodge CEO Reid Bigland told WardsAuto.
Bigland added that the Dart GT is not a true performance model, but more of a placeholder between the Rallye trim and a “potential R/T in the future. The R/T Charger and R/T Challenger have set the bar pretty high. It’s just trying to go back to where that name really means something.”
The Dart GT uses a 184 horsepower version of Dodge's new 2.4L Tigershark engine, so expect something with a little more oomph for the R/T model. Dodge is also thought to be working on a Dart SRT model, which would sit atop the R/T in terms of all-out performance.

I wouldn't believe that. Sergio Marchionne and Ralph Gilles have both confirmed that there will be an SRT Dart and I have faith it's still coming.
I'm really interested in a SRT Lite R/T model though... If it's similar theory to the Lancer Ralliart that can easily be boosted to EVO power with a few mods.

Still boring IMO. Still an ugly vehicle that doesn't "replace" anything, and most people in here are drooling over it SIMPLY because it's Mopar. I know your beliefs and ideals Gramps, but meh I just don't see it. Good thing no one is making me buy one!Midnight_Rider wrote:Brand-new Fiat/Chrysler Group design and engineering vs. almost decade-old DCX design and engineering.FAC3L3SS wrote:What makes this any more special than the Avenger or Sebring or what have you?Yup.FAC3L3SS wrote:The fact that it "replaced" the Neon?Nope.FAC3L3SS wrote: Didn't the Caliber do that? as of the deal with fiat, SRT is now its own division. just like dodge an chrysler are separate-ishUriahRR wrote:Soooooooo... has "SRT" totally killed "Mopar"? Or are they still two separate divisions? Seems like SRT has filled the tuning void that Mopar used to along the lines of companies like Nismo, TRD, Spoon, AMG, M, etc.
just wondering...

it'll still happen. when i was talking to the srt guys at carlisle last year, they were already pretty vested in the development of an srt dart. at that time there was already a lot of testing being done and they were really good at reciting the lines given to them for beating around the bush about the topic
