Need your opinion Srt-4 Rims or seats

Post by Soundwav » Sat Feb 16, 2013 7:19 am

Found a deal on kijiji for a set of srt-4 rims for $275 painted black with shot rubber or the add says 1 summer left of rubber.. (235-45-17)

First thing id do is tear the rubber off and strip the paint off the rims!

in the same add this person has srt-4 seats for 175.. condition looks ok on the seats but id have to see in person!

Now i have a BASE model neon.... no power options at all

just cruise and ac.

Now i do know that i would have to get a 205/40 or 205/45 tire because of my suspension on the base model..

What do you think i should do?????

175 for all four seats, or just fronts?

Most likely 175 for fronts only, that's still a pretty good deal.. The rims i think u can find a better price, seeing how ur going to strip the paint and get new tires anyways. I've seen some for under 200 without tires. Save urself the trouble and find some unpainted

I'd pass on the rims, they're a dime a dozen, and those ones are too much. offer $150-200 at most.

a couple months ago, my buddy in georgetown (2 hours away from you) was selling his SRT rims with awesome rubber for $220ish.

I do have a set of rims for sale (not SRT's) that you should buy ;)

I'd pick up the seats though!

OR offer $300 for seats and rims. Cash, picked up talks

The seats would be better IMO. I think there are better looking wheels out there for the money (Silverstones for example).

Reason I was asking about front or all...does the OP want mid-matched seats? Or would (s)he rather spend more money to buy new tires and put effort into stripping the paint?

Also, most SRT-4 wheels w/ tires won't fit on your stock non-SRT suspension, because the tires will hit the spring perches on the strut assemblies.

Even stock SRT tires won't fit, much less those big donuts on the set you're talking about. In order to use SRT-4 wheels with stock non-SRT suspension you;ll need rubberband tires. Well, what I consider to be rubberband. You'll have wheel gap, lots of it. Really the only way to get rid of wheel gap on our cars is to either run SRT struts and lowering springs designed for SRT, or just coilovers. Our cars actually look better before big wheels and low profile tires UNLESS we address the suspension as I just talked about. Again, IMO.

SO, buy the seats :P

Amen to that. Silverstones and the BBS alloys on the late ACRs were the best stock wheels on any Neon, in my opinion.

+1 for the Silverstones on non-SRT Neons.

Good call. Standard 2GN seats suck big sweaty ballsacks.

Post pics if you get 'em

SRT rims are skinny and heavy. They really suck. The seats are great.

Oh, they're SRS SRT seats :/

This whole time I was thinking about Viper inspired ones

For a couple dollars more you could have gotten my leathers! I sold them a couple weeks ago. WAAYYY better shape than these, and same seat design.

The rips in the leather trim is a very common thing. Short of having an upholstery shop, repair the seat, there aren't many good fixes. Shop around a little, maybe you can find someone that does that kind of thing or a decent price at a shop.

The person my daughter bought the '96 neon from had a woman that repaired set covers for $40 to $100, depending on the repair needed.

If it was just the lower panel that needed replaced, that would be $40

If you ever priced replacement covers from the dealer, $200 to get them fixed is a bargain.

 I've got those "airbag" SRT-4 seats in my SXT ... they're more comfortable than "Viper style" seats in my SRT-4 ... either one is far more comfortable than the regular seats ...
don't be fooled by appearance only, and be glad you didn't get the SRT-4 wheels ... you need something lighter and wider for the 205x50-17 tires to reach their potential

Ah I want those seats. I bought my two Viper inspired ones for $100. They are rough on my back (disability from military) and am wantin to go back to stock SXT or get the SRS seats.

Good find! And I'm with everyone else: glad you didn't get the rims.
