This might help you out. I just searched and saved it the other day. :)

Now that I have a better understanding of what you were trying to say. It make more sense.

A trip to a JY if you have one within reasonable distance.

It is probably an easier fix, as long as the screwdriver hasn't messed anything up, but just grab the whole switch while you are there.

Yeah, the rust spot is concerning, I plan on removing as much material as I need to and then weld in a panel to cover the hole.

So after a long converstaion and video analysis the conclusion is that the Skim system is fine, and the only real problem we have with the ignition system is the lock cylinder itself. So I need to purchase a replacement key cylinder and then re "code" the cylinder to match the key I have

So yesterday I pulled out the key tumbler and ignition switch, both are severely chewed up. I have gone ahead and purchased a new tumbler, igniton switch and ignition switch actuator pin so that I can restore this thing to the way it should be.

I also have purchased new pads and rotors, along with a completely refreshed SOHC head as the car also has a bent valve.

So now I need to get a new head gasket, head bolts, timing belt, tensioner(mechanical or hydraulic , I don't know which one it is) and a water pump. Then the car should be good to go mechanically. Then I can turn my attention to the rust hole.

So I finally replaced the head, head gasket, timing belt and water pump over the past few days. The only thing I have left if to put the crank pulley on, the alt and PS belts. Then change the oil and add coolant and it should be ready to fire up. These are the few pictures I took:

Could be worse.

Last neon head I pulled it burned through the head between cyl 1/2.

Burn groove was way beyond the machining point.
If the parts car is cleaner rust wise than your car, swap the inner dash panels (VIN) and use the parts car with your title.
But don't street race..!!??

So its been a while since I've posted anything about this car. Its still around. Not on the road however. I took it for an inspection sticker and it failed on a few things.

-Control arm bushings - bad
-Rear struts - bad
-Muffler(has a hole) - bad

also a few things the tech noticed that wont cause failure of and inspection but where worth noting.

-Hole in the metal heater hoses causing it to leak coolant.
-Front brake is dragging. (Some how when I installed pads and rotors I got the hose twisted. So I think its clamping down causing the brake to drag)

Today I picked up a used heater hose assembly from the salvage yard along with a new rear door handle because the one on the car doesn't spring back so if your not paying attention the door will just bounce back open.

I will be working on it more in the next few days. So I will take some pictures for any who are interested....

You successfully created a 1gn brake hose.

No start, no click or crank

Post by wickedgood4684 » Thu Jun 19, 2014 12:22 pm

So......This is rather annoying. Now it wont start. No crank, no click. Nothing. Everything inside comes on. Skim light comes on and then goes out. so thats good.

Some back story. I drove the car from my mothers house to my fathers house fine. no issues. When I went to get out the keys would not come out. it was late so I disconnected the ignition switch and called it good. I came back a few weeks later and I was able to get the keys out. I reconnected the ignition switch and it wouldn't start. Battery was dead. I tried to jump it but I was impatient so I just took the battery out and took it home and charged it. Brought it back that next weekend and put it in and still no start.

Things I've tried.

-Charged the battery

- cleaned battery terminals and ground terminal but drivers side head light

-I took the old ignition switch and put it in an turned it and the result was the same.

- I disconnected the cam sensor same result

- The ignition relay clicks so I know the ignition system is working.

-Ive even tried adjusting the PDRN cable inside the car.

- I disconnected the neutral safety switch too and tried a ohms test from the center prong to the transmission case(read to try this so i did) I got no result. Which is supposed to mean that the NSS is bad and needs to be replaced.

I'm not one to jump to conclusions so I now need to test the starter and see if its receiving power. I have to go back to my place and get my alligator clips so I can try and see what voltage the starter is receiving.

Any other suggestions would be much much appreciated

EDIT: I'm also missing the little signal suppressor that goes on the back of the head. I have read that it can be an issue

The noise suppressor can only be a problem if it is there.

Have you tried pulling the starter relay to see if it is getting a signal from the ignition switch? Have you tried jumping the pins in the PDC with the relay out to see if the starter cranks?
