You get something more reasonable than 15's, like 17's or 18's.
15's don't even belong on our cars IMO, unless you want to look like you're driving grandma's bone-stock economy carriage, with big rubber donuts for tires lol. The wheel wells are just too big.
I have SRT wheels and before I went back up to where I wanted it, I wanted to see what it looked like gapless... I got rid of ALL the gap and had more adjustablity left on my BC's.
yes those Volks looks fabulous.
Also, I like the black car. I've been considering doing something like that, too... kind of a new approach to wheel styling on our cars.
For the record, I am not a fan of megastretched BS. I feel that anyone can stretch a tire to make something fit, but it takes real skill to find a tire size and suspension setup that fits a wide tire on a good wheel without ridiculous camber. In fact, I love this quote:
Now to note, I define "stretched" as anything "not square", and "ballooned" as anything "more than square".
I know something about fitment from trying different wheel and tire combos on my IS300. I ran a staggered setup but still... I had 225's up front on an 8" wheel and it was a hint of stretch. I ran 245's on the back on 10" and it was also slightly stretched. It cleared the inner fender steel because of that slight stretch. When I went to 8" all around but kept the same tires, the fronts were fine but the rears were not square, and lacked the slight angle on the sidewall they had before. So it rubbed every time I hit a slight dip or bump in the road, just driving normal. And made a horrible sound. There's good vs. bad fitment.
Our cars have crazy, way-not-flush wheel wells, especially in the rear. We could easily get away with 8" fronts running 225's, and 9" rears running 245's, and have them just a hair under square. The right offset or spacers would bring them out to where they should be, too.
To me, that would be perfect, on coilovers dropped 'till there was no gap. If you REALLY want to go lower than no gap, just run 205's up front and 225's in the rear, and now there's enough angle to the sidewall to tuck them in a bit, BMW-style. And those are still reasonable tread widths so you can still expect to stick the tires nicely to the ground with a decent to good brand.
It just comes down to measurement and some common sense, and not letting those RWD stance boys make you jealous because of their trendy bad fitment. Step back, think a bit, and get a nice, aggressive look, lowz ride height, and still grip the road nicely. Use common sense, not Motor Mavens or Speedhunters brainless influences.

I think that sums it up nicely. Now if you can pull that off, while riding loooow and running stiff spring rates, then great!a smart guy on ka-t.org wrote:Hella flush and all associates should be gunned down for brainwashing people into thinking a 225 and lots of camber is proper wheel fitment. THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny azz tire till it doesn't rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.

LOL... yeah no shit. What kind of "racing" wants less traction? I'd rather have more weight than a shitty stretched tire that sacrifices traction. If I was straight-line racing. Hell, if I was circuit racing, too. The only cars that worry about smaller wheels for less centrifugal mass are true racecars that won't do something dumb like stance out their car. In fact they want a little suspension travel to keep ithe wheels planted well when they hit a minor dip in the track and the car lifts up a bit.
I added more thoughts to my original post, giving my own experiences as well as some summary thoughts on it.
BUT... the idea that SRT wheels are poor for racing... I can just turn up the boost. 15" wheels aren't for racing per se. It depends on the car. And not this car IMO. Hell, you can't fit any decent brakes inside of them. SRT wheels aren't light but they aren't super heavy as OEM 17's go, either. I can't say exactly what they weigh but someone here probably can... however, I've held them tireless in my hand, along with lots of other wheels I've stripped and coated. They aren't that bad. In fact, they're decent. My only objection to them is they should be a half inch to a full inch wider for my tastes.
Now, your question about BC's... BC America can get you different rates if I remember right, but as far as height goes.... probably not. They don't focus on slamming cars. They focus on racing. And for racing, you don't want to be that low. End of story.
Yeah, it's for asking questions. It's also for commenting. I don't generally come into this thread, but I happened to see two nice looking cars as well as read your desire for 15's on a slammed setup, which is apparently your strategy for a "race" setup, which I'm telling you is IMO not a "race" setup at all.
But it' s just my opinion.
Now, my S12 does run 15" wheels. But it also runs 50 series tires, and the wheel well isn't nearly as big as on our cars or I'd run something larger. Those who run 16's on our S12's are generally considered to be running an aggressive wheel with a short sidewall. On my Neons, the wells are larger, so I prefer to take advantage of that.

i dont plan to stay slammed to race as the wheels on my car a for show. i have two wheels and tires dedicted to race with. and yes there 15 inch.... ive seen people race with srt wheels and drag radials. but thats not for me.
hell im not even close to slammed, im trying to figure out how to get there first.

So you throw on the race pair to race. Do you readjust your suspension before you race?Boosted22sxt wrote:i dont plan to stay slammed to race as the wheels on my car a for show. i have two wheels and tires dedicted to race with. and yes there 15 inch.... ive seen people race with srt wheels and drag radials. but thats not for me.
15" for a drag setup with the right kind of tires makes sense. But the kind of tires I'm thinking about cost a bit more because they have the name "Mickey Thompson" or "Hoosier" on the side. Not a regular street tire on a 15". Is this what you're talking about? And yes, I'd never run a drag radial on a 17" wheel. But the right brand/model street tire on a 17" wheel can grip pretty damn good, and anyways, you don't have a torsen diff (I'm guessing) like 2004 and 05 SRT, so it would be better to SPIN the tires a bit on launch. Drag radials will break your transmission I would imagine.
My 2003 SRT doesnt have torsen like the later ones, so a street radial with some spin is better if I were to drag the car. Which I won't lol
So what do you consider to be "slammed"? Wheels with no gap or negative gap, or the lowest part of the chassis in relation to the ground? It makes a difference.Boosted22sxt wrote:hell im not even close to slammed, im trying to figure out how to get there first.

yes the car gets lifted alot actually to keep enough room for the added tire height.. and no actually best ive found for street traction are good year blizzacks or a similar winter tire with a decent side wall for flex. theses tires are cheaper than drs and retain the use of a stock wheel or lighter aftermarket 15inch. and they work...
to me slammed is zero wheel gap... doesnt have to tuck very far but no visual wheel gap.

How far are your pinch welds and oil pan off the ground? That's how you can tell how slammed a car is :p wheel gap doesn't count since it's different on every car with different sizesBoosted22sxt wrote:how do you slam a car on bcs? i have mine all the way down in the front and i still have a finger gap. i have 205 50 15s...

Depends on tire size too. A 225/50/15 is a 24" tall tire, where a 215/45/17 is a 24.6" tall tire. That's only .3" on the wheel well side of difference. And you gotta think, a lot of regular neons came with a 185/60/15, which is 23.7". If you put taller tires on it, you're giving up gearing which will effect your day to day driving, such as merging into traffic, along with throwing your speedometer off a bit.Arro wrote:You get something more reasonable than 15's, like 17's or 18's.

225/50/15 looks good on our cars, along with some shorter ones, depending on how low you get the car.
Some guy from SRT Forums:
PhillyLS1, his car was just on lowering springs on his SRT:
This is Mopar_Korean's car, on 15x7 with a 30 offset wheels, 205/50/15 tires
This is neonslg09's car on 16's, I forget the tire size.
And his car on stock 7-spokes with 195/50/15 tires.
I'm a fan of smaller wheels and tires myself, biggest I would go is 17's and using SRT wheels. I'm buying a set of SRT wheels currently, but I plan on putting them on my voyager, not my neon lol.
Now I'll admit, bigger wheels with bigger tires will make a car look lower than it really is because it puts the tire closer to the wheel well, but I'm not a fan myself.
So many neons so little time.

ThenumberoneD on here used to have 235/60/15's on his SRT4 but it really looked goofy since its such a HUGE tire.
I loved my NYG on coils and 14's (195/60/14). Although if I have my way ill be running a shorter tire.

The day I put on SRT4 rims... "Holy shit, where'd all the torque go?!"
The day I put on 15x7 rims... "Oh god, this is immensely better than those heavy ass narrow SRT rims."
The day I put on coilovers... "Hell yea, that shit is on the ground, I fucking love it"
The day I went to stock SRT suspension... "Thank god the horrible ride, slamming shitty roads, car rattling apart, and aching back are gone."
Big rims not only slow you down, but look awful. Coilovers speed you up but the trade off is just not worth it. Unless you've ever actually driven a real race car on a real race track, you are only fooling yourself.
To each his own, but we all grow up some day.
