Well I mean how exactly accurate is an unloaded dyno.... wouldn't the numbers be slightly inflated.

The dyno I used was proven to be within 9hp of a loaded mustang dyno...i'd say it's pretty accurate...

the car that tested both dyno's was a procharged ford mustang making over 400hp...

Oh ok. He did say you were going to tune it for him a few weeks back when I bought the Vipers from him.

yeah, did pretty well... from the first pull i called that he'd make 285 all said and done....sure enough i hit the nail on the head with it.

Boosted22sxt: it's all a matter of opinion. We work with an unloaded dyno and have found our numbers to be very real world friendly. Some folk will only want a loaded dyno, but with a loaded dyno there's room for variance, and cheating, since with a loaded dyno if the operator doesn't know what he's doing or wants to inflate numbers, he can change the load %...with an unloaded dyno there's no cheating. The only thing I can change is the approx. altitude...everything else is based off the weight of the drum, which stays constant.

I was under the impression that a 2004 is technically a Stage 1 w/out the Stage 1 turbocharger... in other words, it has Stage 1 ECU and Stage 1 injectors, accounting for the horsepower increase from '03 to '04.

No?

Says the 04 has a revised computer.

I've met this guy and he seems to be pretty knowledgeable. Then again, so are you.

So what exactly are you doing to "tune" an otherwise stock car?

all they did was change the calibration a little between 03 and 04...they did the same between 04 and 05.

i adjust timing, fueling, spark modifiers and adders, etc to gain more power over the factory tunes.
