Need a clutch, any ideas?

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

PT up to 300. Then lots of options past that. What power range? Drag duty?

I just installed a Banhoff stage 1 (rated up to 244 hp) they're well reviewed and this one is awesome. the price can't be beat ($175 for the stage 1) according to their page they offer them up to stage 7 and list the hp ratings of each stage. They have an ebay store and offer free shipping. unless something goes drastically wrong during the 500 mile break in period I will buy their clutch products again without a second thought.

the sachs non-modular is what im running, no complaints so far. Cheapest i could find and it seemed like the best option for me since i had to learn to drive the car after swapping in the mtx trans. Stratus 2.7 mtx clutch is also highly rated for our cars, but i think they are hard to come by now.

Good to hear of your success with the Stratus clutch !! :) 8)

QUESTION:
How does the pedal effort with the Stratus clutch feel, compared to the PT Clutch, or the stock Neon clutch ??

Just dropped a Stratus 2.7 clutch in my car today. Paid $180 on parts geek.com
It is not on there normal listings and is not under the standard Sachs part number.
It grabs almost 2" from the floor, so it has taken some getting used to. I will be putting it through its paces soon enough.

Not a bad find for the price !
What is their part number ??

Please give us a review, after you put it 'through its paces'.

http://www.partsgeek.com/424c5z3-dodge- ... h-kit.html

I had it air shipped to get it in time.
Huge thanks to Xavier at ZHP in Galveston Texas for swapping it out in 3 hours! I helped where I could but I think I was in the way.
Then we lined out the SRT intercooler and installed it in another few hours and I was on my way back to Louisiana.

I have about 250 miles on the clutch so far, 150 without boost and another 100 at 4psi because I did not set the preload correctly on my stage2 wastegate when I hooked it back up. Rectified that.

This Sunday will be the first real test, first autox event of the year.

The Stratus clutch stood up just fine at the autox. I was running Hoosier R6 tires up front, so the power was getting to the ground. The clutch stood up to it very well. I am very happy with it's performance.

The initial surprise of the clutch engaging so quickly has passed and I hardly notice it any more.

Not one to let any of my parts get off early, I gave it a few harsh launches to see if it would be hard to slip for just the proper amount of wheelspin. As I had not tried to launch the car like this since I have gone turbo it took a few tries to keep from just roasting the tires. It performed flawlessly......my LCA bushings however spoke up very quickly when I did get it right and I had to let off it before I tore an axle up.

A very worthwhile upgrade.

how much power are you making?

i'm just trying to see if it will be the right clutch for my set up and i really don't want to drop$ 300-400 on a clutchmaster and i take it that your running it on a first gen.

Please forget I ever said this! This clutch started slipping and causing clutch chatter after 10000 miles. If you're using them for racing and are replacing them every few races they would be okay but for a daily driver they suck. They wear out fast.

Ouch, that sucks. :(

Question - Can you rule out contamination, from the rear main seal ?
Was that replaced along with the clutch, when you installed the Banhoff ??

The Banhoff stage 1 I bought feels like mushy butter compared to the Sachs 2.7 Stratus clutch, that I think I actually paid literally a couple dollars more for.

I don't think the Banhoff would live too long behind a 2.4.

It felt great with the 3.94 gears in a 1gn, but not so much with the 3.55's in a 2gn. A bit of sarcasm thrown in - you are wondering if it actually engaged.

5 months on my Stratus clutch. My latest dyno simulation run said I was putting down 230lb/ft.
Works as great as the first day I installed it.

Only the clutch and the release bearing were replaced. I did not do the work. I went to a highly recommended local guy for a rattling noise problem and had him do that at the same time. I also had him put in my new sachs stock clutch this time around. I assume he did the job right. a friend who was his partner a few years back says he does. (the rattling ended up being good old fashioned gear rattle - nothing to do but deal with it btw.) The sachs should be good for at least 2 years with the way I put on miles. (200-300 miles weekly city driving) if not then I'm going to someone else next time and I may try a 2.7 clutch.

DEFINITELY have them replace the rear mail seal, too - Do this whether it needs it, or not, when replacing a clutch !! :!:
They are easy and cheap - Once the trans is out of the way while doing the clutch, it makes sense to change it.

I always specify the 'high-mileage' variety of rear main seal.
