A quote within a quote within a quote.....

It's' like Inception on roids.

I don't have anywhere to host pics these days. Just image a white neon with no rocker panels, a silver hood, and a blue passenger door handle.

My R/T's still going strong. Only 94k and I'm currently fending off the rocker rot. It's daily driven and I have no plans of getting rid of it. [-(

Update: My trusty Neon has unfortunately lost her fight against rocker cancer (rust), it spread into the sub-structure, weakening the car overall. I put up a valiant effort against it, but it was all for naught.
Since she has become unsafe to drive, I guess you can say I really have driven my Neon till it "died".

I think 1gns had the highest young/beginner driver fatality rate of any car.

But what did they expect when the neon was at the top of it's class for power, and inexperienced drivers? The Cavaliers of the same era weren't any better. They just didn't have as much power to get you in trouble as quickly.

Parents were also probably clueless as to the potential the neons had. "How much trouble could Susie possibly get into with it, ain't it cute?"

Exactly. An unskilled driver can still be seriously injured in a car that gets five stars from the IIHS. I see so many stupid drivers who depend on their cars to make up for their lack of skill and common sense. :tardbang:

I've owned mine for 5 years now and I'm convinced I can keep her running for a long time to come. it's been my learning car in many aspects and I believe I can do just about anything with it. I'd like a number because I will drive my neon until it dies. for sure.

I think I'm going update this once a year as long as I own/drive the Neon. The R/T's still going strong as a daily driver with 99K. Had to replace the driver's side rocker panel but other than that it passed Pa.'s inspection and emissions. Good for another year  Items for new year: passenger side rocker (getting a little soft) and timing belt/water pump.

How's some of the other people's Neons holding up?

Hi,
My name is Ben. I've been on the Neon bandwagon for nearly a decade and try as I might, the damn thing just keeps on kicking with gleeful ignorance of it's misuse, abuse, and downright criminal mechanical skills of its owner/operator.

We are about the kick over 250k miles on the odometer and I rally the piss out of it on forest and blm gravel roads fully loaded with wayyyyyy too much camping gear on the regular.

I wish factory parts were still available but thank God for eBay and random back stock availability from Summit and Rockauto, and salvage yards, of course.

2004 SXT MT
-Aluminum Valve cover with gross candy green powder coat(cracked the factory plastic after a head gasket replacement at 230k)
-1GN front seats with bitchin' 90's pattern fabric
-Booger bushings
-AC high pressure switch bypass(had two shops diagnose the PCM as my AC nemesis, but after it was replaced without achieving desired outcome I had to take matters into my own hands)
-Projector retrofit is in the works
-LED park/turn/brake lights
-SRT4 rear struts are in mail(going for a little lift and clearance for chunkier M/S tires)
-PT GT strut assemblies for the front are on my wanted list
-Hurst STS is on backorder but will be mine, one day. Oh yes, it will be mine.
-Will hopefully be DIY spray on Bedlining the entire car battleship grey, and touching up the trim with some fresh black
Otherwise the most fully polished turd of a neon you'll see. She's not pretty, but she treats me good.

Thanks for providing info on the forums to help me keep it purring like a slightly ill kitten.
