50 years ago tonight, The Beatles debuted on American television. I was a few months shy of being five years old so I don't remember watching. I did watch my DVD of that evening's
Ed Sullivan Show earlier today though. Time sure does fly!

I was disappointed that I wasn't able to watch the special on Sunday night. Even with all the awesome that FiOS has, you can still only record two events at the same time.

I'll be honest- it was kind of disturbing. Ringo had a lot of energy, especially considering that he is the oldest Beatle. Paul, on the other hand, looked tired and had what I can only describe as a look of fear in his eyes while on the keyboards- never seen him like that before and it really made me sad. I mean, the time will come (as it will for all of us) when he will have to admit that he just can't do it anymore; if not, he will become a caricature of himself. It must be pretty hard. at their age, to perform before an audience largely made up of people who could be their grandchildren, while having multimedia footage of much younger versions of themselves directly behind them for everyone to see. Glad that it wasn't me.

Ringo wasn't actually playing the drums. They had a stand in behind the curtain.

He did play but Kenny Aronoff (formerly with John Mellencamp) played with him. It was the same at the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971- Ringo and Jim Keltner played drums together.

Got home from work this morning and noticed that I have a headlight out on the Subaru. Funny- never lost a head or tail light on the Jeep for the 21 months that I drove it but the Subie has a black eye after less than four months of use.
Disclaimer- I did have a license plate light go out on the Jeep but I don't think that is nearly as serious as head or tail light failure (most of my driving is in the dark).

I just replaced the headlight bulbs in my neon a couple months ago. They were still working. I never replaced them since I own the car (which by now is 11 years) and I doubt the previous owner did. So definitely good bulbs if they really lasted 14 years

They were pretty hazy, though, so I probably should have replaced them a while ago.

I bought a calculator for college back in 1983 and I am still using it with the original battery.

Not sure what is more impressive: the fact that the batteries are still powering the calculator or that they have not started leaking yet...

^^Aw gee, now you've got me worrying about the battery leaking. The weird thing is, maybe once or twice a year, the battery seems to go dead but it starts working again once I get ready to go buy a new one.

Probably a watch/key fob style battery, leakage is generally not an issue with those.

That's good to know. Funny- I've never really used the calculator for what it is for (computer programming, hexadecimal), just balancing my checkbook, etc.

Currently watching 2F2F while walking around the house in my leopard print chaps. Spun a rod bearing on the 95 sedan so she hasn't been on the road for a bit. The 02 is still running but needs some SERIOUS tlc. I missed this place!
