AC Clunking Noise

Post by SolarYNeon » Thu Jun 22, 2006 8:48 am

Sorry not to sure where to put this, but I'm trying to figure out if this is normal or if this is just my car being stupid :)

Well to make a long story short, whenever I go to turn the AC from the recirculation to draw from outside setting, it sounds like something basically, "drops" in my dash and goes CLUNK, sometimes it scares the shit out of me when I'm driving down the highway and I go to do that

But yeah, any answers, or help at that fact would be really appreciated

If you want to call it, its the blend door hitting the stops from going from interior venting to outside venting, its normal...
The hardest hits you should hear is when the car is decelerating and then you do the chaange, thats when you have the most vacuum in the system causing it to basically slam shut...

Thats only if he is going to Recirculated air since there is no vacuum needed to move the flap to the outside setting as he is doing. The door is spring loaded so what he's hearing is the door slamming shut b/c of the spring... could just be a fluke that his spring might be a little stronger, who knows but it's normal.
