Chassis set up
Chassis set up
Well the list below tells you what I have ordered and what I have already put on. Was wondering how this set-up will balance on the road.
Prothane bushings around
Stock Sway bar up front, Progress Technology 22MM rear.
Stock springs.
Will this get tail happy be fairly balnce for the occasional corner flogging. We have potholes round here and not looking to lower it.

I hate the eternal push and looking to get it to rotate. Was actually looking at getting custom wound at the high rate spec from GenI but then it all adds up and not looking to go tooo far and it is a Daily Driver but just wondering if I am going to push it oversteer. Which would not be good. Then I would just add a PT bar for balance.

Well I ran into a deal to good to pass up and I am getting a set of Voghtland 30MM drop springs and new struts for FREE. Soooooo I guess those will be going on for new springs. What ya guys think? Will I be getting towards oversteer with this setup???

Depending on which KYB's, yes they are basically OEM (GR-2's I think they were called)
I think you will enjoy the vehicle as a daily driver and you won't fall into any potholes..
For a while I was runnin this setup(saving for new ACR struts $$$$$$$$$) and it was fine:
*Energy Suspension Master Kit
*Eibach Pro Kits
*KYB GR-2
*Vibrant (F) Tower Brace
*DC Sports (R) Tower Brace
*Dunlop SP Sport FM901 - good tires, they were fun, RIP
*Team Dynamics Racing Wheels (17's)
I commuted 69 miles each way through farm roads, twisty hills, suburbia, and downtown city streets everyday and it worked great for 1000's of miles....till the KYBs dumped and the car was squishy again..

Well it is all in and very tight might I add. Was suprised to find it did not necessarily look lowered. You can tell next to another car but alone it looks more proportional to say an Intrepid or 300M. Not a 4X4.
So anyhow got to align it tomorrow and set it up. I have the camber bolts in already and casual observance (Yeah, they make me do the fun alignments or find whats wrong on troubled cars at my shop so I guess more than casual, semi trained eye) it looks pretty stock. Needs toe set and will alter the camber a bit. But fit turns pretty good right now for being on BFGoodrich Traction TA's P185/65R14 tires.
Tomorrow even better. Have not driven it hard enough to have it be tight or loose. The Vogtland Springs ride pretty good though. Rougher than stock but not by much and A LOT HARDER to bottom out even though they are already over an inch lower.

Well it is now aligned and man oh man it rides good. Very neutral so far and absolutely no snap oversteer as described by Sports Compact Car on there SRT4 build up. That is with the whole urethane kit in. With 4 tires bark'n a bit you can grab brake or throttle as you wish and it just goes. VERY happy. Before resetting the alignment and what not the rear end was bouncy and VERY VERY taught. All I had to do was loosen the strut rod or tension strut as some say and tighten it back down and very nice road manners from the back end returned, just very precise. Have a couple of tight corners that I used to run when stock and still run today and corner speed is up 15 mph over stock (35 was bark'n and squealing bad, very nervous) and very smooth just looking for more but then there are speed limits ya know!

Welfare sways FTW!!
You should start w/ the welfare swaybar setup (PT front bar & ACR rear bar). Then replace your bushings. This will give you a decent foundation to build off of & these 2 mods are inexpensive.
Hey Bebo
Bushings are done, Got a 22 mm Progress bar out back and Stock up front. Pretty good with the Vogtland springs. Next trick is bigger tires and may Koni Inserts. Just need to find out if they will fit in KYB GR2 Struts.
Since this is a daily driver with some fun added for me and not looking to have to change tires for winter, I am looking at 205/60R14 BFG Traction TA's to replace the P185/65R14. Nothing too flashy just like to charge corners once in a while for FUN.
With my current Spring rates
Front:
progressive
Initial: 25 N/mm = 143 lbf/in
Final: 45 N/mm = 257 lbf/in
Rear:
progressive
Initial: 16 N/mm = 91 lbf/in
Final: 24 N/mm = 137 lbf/in
it has a tendency to push anyway so they are balanced pretty well with the bar setup as is. Need to go to an autocross one day just to see where it i really at cause on an off camber the rear slides out gently while going entirely way TOO fast. So will have to see. But for now it is fairly ridiculous to go as fast as the car allows at this point on the street anyway.
