Anyone change from 2k2 steering wheel to 2k3+?
Anyone change from 2k2 steering wheel to 2k3+?
I have a 2k2 R/T and I have the 4 spoke steering wheel. I need keep an airbag as it's a dialy driver in rush hour traffic and law prohibits removal in Ontario.
I can get an SRT-4 wheel for an ok price with airbag.
Question is has anyone made ther 2k3+ cruise work with a 2k2 car? Harness ends the same?
Thanks guys

Now thats a good how-to but it does not talk about the cruise control portion.
Does the 03+ plug and play witht he 2k1-2k2 system?
I'm sure I could work it out. Maybe even just get the clockspring for a 2k3-2k4 sxt with that wheel along with the wheel and airbag.
I guess I'll start collecting the parts.

The plugs are the same as far as pinouts go but the plug for the 03+ airbags are a little different, enough that the 00-02 spring won't work with a 03+ airbag. So my guess as long as you find a 03+ clock spring which has the wiring for the cruise control you should be fine. The SRT clockspring, since it didn't have cruise did not include the wiring for the cruise control on the clock spring.

The cruise control is different in that the 2000-2002 has it on the steering wheel (where it should be) and the 2003 + has a stalk. I guess you need a new column surround in order to use the 2003 cruise stalk since there is no place to put the 2000-2002 cruise buttons on the 2003 + wheel. Also, the R/T and SRT should have a leather wrapped wheel. Most all the SXT's do not.kimnwi wrote:Is there a difference visually between an RT/SXT/SRT steering wheel? I also want to go to a 3 spoke design in my 2000, and want to make my choice based on what one I like the best. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the info, I guess my next question is concerning the cruise control. My car didn't come with cruise from the factory, is there a plug I could use to install the stalk and such and gain the ability to use the cruise? I ask this because my donor car has cruise control.moparknighthawk wrote:The cruise control is different in that the 2000-2002 has it on the steering wheel (where it should be) and the 2003 + has a stalk. The cruise stalk sticks through back area of the steering wheel. I'll get a picture of my SRT-4 wheel that I cut out the stalk area and used one from a wrecked car at the yard. Unfortunatly they wanted $200 for the column. No way I'm gonna buy a clockspring for that much.moparknighthawk wrote:The cruise control is different in that the 2000-2002 has it on the steering wheel (where it should be) and the 2003 + has a stalk.
