Air temp sensor ?? Will this work ?

Instead of using a resistor to make the PCM think the engine is getting cooler air , why not just locate the sensor to a place where it can get cool air. Like behind a front opening where cool air blows on it. Would that not work ??

I suppose it could, but I dont understand why people would want to do it.
It just makes it think its colder, therefor it dumps more fuel into the engine. Yeah okay, good for the people that actually need it aside from those that already have megasquirts :p
I dont see any reason to do it if your car is lightly modded. It would be just like running your engine on a cold day, at 4 am in the morning. Not very pleasant

Trying this will do NOTHING. if anything, you would want the PCM to think the air is hotter, less dense, and therfore require less fuel and leaning your mixture.
eninges run better with colder air!!!SolarYNeon wrote:I suppose it could, but I dont understand why people would want to do it.

The only reason to relocate your IAT sensor is if you modded the intake someway.Im running te SRT ramair setup so I relocated it to my airbox to get a better reading since im not drawing my air threw the fenderwell anymore....
If you run a CAI setup, just make sure you install it in the pipe somewhere to get the reading...
Running a stock airbox and moving it to the front of the car does nothing for imporvements...

I know that they run better with cold air, because the air is denser blah blah, but a COLD engine doesnt run that well. It's not effecient at all. It just dumps fuel into it to keep the thing running. Ever notice how when you first start your car, especially in the morning or when its colder out, the PCM adjusts the idle, to sit at around 1k instead of just above the kill limit? I think thats there to help warm up the engine03blackrt wrote:Trying this will do NOTHING. if anything, you would want the PCM to think the air is hotter, less dense, and therfore require less fuel and leaning your mixture.
