so today i was finishing the installation of my power locks... everything going good there for the most part........ well i thought i smelled something burning but being in the area i was i just figured it was someone else....... lol .. until i actually saw the smoke
i shorted a wire or something to my trunk release selonoid and it was literally melting.... i took it out and it was too hot to touch for at least 30 minutes...
i dont know what i might have done other than pinching a wire or something.. i really dont know ..
the power line for the selonoid did not have a fuse, should it have? would a in-line fuse have prevented this "meltdown"?
now i gotta get a new selonoid hopefully locally and cheaply... the "kit" i got on ebay for the trunk lock was less than $10
what could i use other than a selonoid? is a trunk popper basically the same thing?
oh well. good thing i was in the area and actually noticed it.. it could have been a lot worse.
came close to burning up my car today
