rear trailing arm question/help/problem

Post by MarkGetsIt » Fri Aug 18, 2006 8:07 am

aight so i finally fit my 19's on the car after we got the whole air ride setup fixed

only problem is now that when i drop the car, the rear trailing arm comes into direct contact with the inner part of the rim... rim aluminum, trailing arm cast iron or steel or whatever, well its messing my rim up and i need to know if anyone makes a trailing arm that will give me more clearance... i just don't understand how to fix it without grinding the trailing arm down to a toothpick size bar... please help, asap!!!

Spacers. Or dont drop the car, keep it the way the suspension parts were designed to work and you wont have these problems.

i would try a small set of spacers, maybe the absolute minimum to get it off the arm. smalls ones shouldnt change it too much when the bags are full.

Just a hint if you replace them tighten them down on the ground or on 4 wheel on a drive on lift. Makes a word of difference especially if you have urethane.

what if you are so low (without bags) you can't put it on the ground to tighten it

Then you should do it on a drive on rack or set the car to ride height and tighten them. But if your that low then you have no suspension travel to worry about ride quality anyway.

No it wasnt, you edited the part where I gave the guy the same answer everyone else did out of my quote. And besides, I decide what is and isnt necessary from me. So bite me Pickle.

You're forgetting the he is on air ride. They are ment to be driven low. As a matter of fact, the ride quality gets better the lower you are droped.

Yes, that was the kit I was refering to when I said mopar makes some offset ones.

IMO I'd go modded tension struts over spacers. Not a big fan of spacers personally.

Are you that white/purple neon I seen pics of floating around?
