i think my car is dying

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

i think my car is dying

Post by colormyworld » Sat Aug 19, 2006 10:50 pm

my dad got me an '02 neon base with around 54k miles. i don't know what's wrong with it but when i start it and put it in reverse (sometimes even drive) the engine seems to stall. i can get it to run on the second try. also sometimes when i accelerate after i stop the car sputters and makes weird noises. it also vibrates after i step on the brake for sometime. should i be really worried?

try some new sparkplugs, sparkplug wires may help. They are tyipicaly the first thing to go on a neon.

thanks for the advice. we changed the spark plugs and the stall and the vibration is gone now. there still might be a problem with the brakes but my dad's taking the car to the dealership tomorrow.
