I know I shouldn't say this because you didn't ask...but you're 16, you might want to rethink getting an srt-4.

But check out http://www.KBB.com

EDIT: Private Party sale is $10,690.

3-speed? You should have the 4-speed...and yes I know your pain I'm in the same boat.

You might want to look into something cheaper...an investment like an SRT-4 might take some time to pay off, and soon you'll probably be needing some extra cashflow. Maybe looking into a swap sometime down the road could help?

 You drive a frickin Neon man, the sooner you come to grips with that and realize that Neons were not built to beat stangs, and even Eclipse GT's... Honestly man, there is no way you can just trade in or sell your sxt and get an SRT. If your car is financed, you are probably upside down on your loan (judiging by the fact that your car is so new) and plus, good luck finding anybody whol would give you a fair trade or full blue book value. The neon is not in demand... nobody wants our cars, especially for the price. I would never pay 10 grand for a 2005 Neon sxt... would you?
best bet, find somebody who is mechanically capable and find yourself a wrecked srt4 and swap everything out... or come to grips with the fact that your neon isnt fast, and just leave it alone, and wait a while to get a new, faster, car... thats what happened to me :D

Hah, well if you can why not ride it out. I mean starting out with a new car can really help you in the long run I guess. I mean, not having to worry if my old '89 civic hatch would get me to work and school is something that I'm loving nowadays.

Good luck on it bro.

 Same thing here man, except Im getting the Cobalt SS... Actually my grandparents are paying for it, and I have to pay them 2 years into college. I dont know, I think I would actually rather have the SS/SC than a SRT4... they are a lot more , dare i say refined, than the srts, and are a little more daily drivable. Im not detracting from the SRT4, I would love to have one, but I guess after having two Neons, Im kind of getting tired of the same interior.

If they bought you a Neon, I applaud their good taste.

:? i wish mommy and daddy would of bought ME a nice car.

j/k (in a way... i still resent you though. :P )

But seriously, for the love of god you're 16... don't get a fast car.
Either you'll kill yourself, someone else, or damage the crap out of the car.
Spend money in going slow and looking good doing it.

Or since you're car is paid off in full, start dropping money into it and make it fast-ish.

All show and no go is the way to get to your 21st b-day

In the money that you would be spending to by a new car you could make the one you have damn nice.

The real question is will mommy and daddy keep paying for the $300-$400 a month insurance
for a 16 year old driving a turbocharged
vehicle...and even if they are paying now, are they
going to keep paying in 2, 3, 4 years? ITs only going to
go down when you hit 25 (usually), and its not likely your
driving record will stay clear considering you would be an unexperienced 16 year old driving a very fast vehicle.

I would keep the one you have. IT has alot of good potential and I dont think that people in High school should have turbocharged, fast cars. Look how many accidents happen because of that. Not saying you are a bad driver, but your parents arent going to pay for a car like that forever. You could always swap your neon later...and have an srt4 for way cheaper than what you would get one for right now in the long run.

I also want you to take notice this is comming from people close to you're age. 19+.

We know what it's like to want to go fast... but frankly, I'm GLAD I drove a '92 ford festiva for a few years. Damn knows I never raced that thing! All 67 horses of it.

Instead, I just made it REALLY damn load... One of the highest SPL festivas out there mind you. (I went through like 4 altinators on that thing... it was awesome. )

lol to guy above me.

and yeah everyone has these pos cars but they are fast around where i live.

but i guess i know what ur saying getting used to driving and all that.

but goddamn do i want a fast car like that, i mean why stick more money into my neon when my bro gets the car in 3 years if i dont sell it and parents buy me a brand new car for 18th bday/graduating hs present.

so i guess ill stay with my slow neon and save save save...

so once i get a nice fast car goddman will i have the cash to mod the hell out of it.

When I was in High school I drove a '95 Dodge Spirt and then steped up to a '95 Dodge Neon [both were $500 cars ;) ]. Three Neons later and I got my R/T. Learn to handle a car before you get yourself way over your head with performance that you cannot handle. Then when your in your early 20's you will want a real muscle car [V8, rwd, actually fast]! :D

man the thought of trading in the neon and going for the mighty srt has been attacking me for months. However, saving money, and waiting for either an srt swap or a new car, is really the only realistic option for me right now. I gotta say, if i were u and i could do it, id fuckin go for it. U only live once, and youll never regret getting one of those monsters!

You can always do what I did when I was your age- drive responsibly and stay out of trouble. It doesn't matter what make of car you have or how fast it might be, just be a good driver and drive what you like. I have never had a ticket in the 30 years that I have been driving. You can do the same. :D

I think its cool ur parents got your car... my first car was a 92 Ford Temp w/ a bad tranny and a lil over 100k miles... traded it in for my neon. Got a whole $500 trade in on the Tempo... didnt do to bad considering the car was 10 yrs old. Kinda miss it somtimes... My dad paid my 1st neon off after the 1st year, and said i owed him what he had to pay... that was 2 yrs ago... then I wrecked it june and he said dont worry about the payments... cept now i owe him about 2k for the clutch, towing fees, and extra for the new neon i have, and i still owe 2k on my life insurance policy...

So, be proud your parents got you a car, i say your damn lucky to have parents that will do that for you. If it were me, id drive the neon and hold off on a srt-4, show your parents you care about the gift they gave you. just my $.02
