Engine Heads

n00b question.

Can you mix and match heads? For instance, take a stock 2.0l bottom, and throw like a PT 2.4l head on it? or no?

Just a quick question :P

The 2.4L head is very similar to the 2.0 DOHC head. It will bolt right on the block. You'd need both cam gears of course and a DOHC 2.0 timing belt. I know it wouldn't run right on your SOHC computer. That's all I know. Maybe someone who's done the swap could tell you more.

The oil passages are differant so no it will not bolt right up. Bolting a 2.4 head to a 2.0 block is pointless sense the 2.0 DOHC head will bolt right up. You have to make some miner changes to the wirring but its not hard. I have toyed with the idea of doing this but if I was going to go to all that trouble why not just drop a 2.4 motor all together and if I was going to do that might as well do a SRT swap. See where I'm going with that.

Now someone I forget who has done a 2.4 block on a mag head with very good results. That is a tempting swap. But you still have to modify the oil passages.
