I think it'd look a lot cleaner with an OEM hood.. but the car is looking good man..

This is the same purple one that had the srt swap back in the day right?

any better pics of the rims? AND, does your state allow you to put the license plate in the front window? That'd clean up the front nicely.

oem hood = makes the turbo *way* too hot. I was getting 205-210 water temp and if the engine temp is too high, the pcm will retard the timing to compestate for the heat.

Nope, My car is a 2001 Silver RT. I went through a total of 4 engines in my car.

stock 2.0 magnum, stock 2.0 magnum bottom end w/ built top end, 2.2l stroker bottom end w/ built top end and now Im running the 2.4l turbo srt4 motor.

as for the state law..

what state law? im a canadian :P

josh - i've got them.. when i get on aim, i ll send the files over to ya

Having a stock hood didnt increase my temps :? If you were worried about it all you needed to do is remove the weather striping on the back and thats way more effective than an srt-4 hood.

Car looks good though, I really like that color.

i removed my weatherstripping only because every time i popped the hood itd be laying across the intake manifold... i could never get it to sit in place

so you get much more effective engine cooling and none of the JDM hilt tilt yo :)

Exactly, sucking hot air out works alot better than blowing cold air on something. Mine falls off every time I open my hood too.

Looks good man but like everyone else has said the SRT hood doesn't look right. Mine sits around 195-200 with my stock hood but I'm melting the shit out of my cowl covers where they join together above the turbo. If I idle for an extended period of time the temp will rise a little bit but not too much. I've been tempted to cut some of the reinforcements under the back side of the hood near the cowl to open up the cat more to aid in letting the hot air escape easier.

Oh and I gotta see pics of how the Quickwhips FMIC looks behind the bumper, I'm talkin close up pics b/c you would of had to cut a shit load off the bumper to get a 4" core to fit behind there. I'm curious to see just how close it is....

i got the hood bc it's functional. cooler engine + turbo = power. w/o that according to my scangauge, w/ the amount of heat under the stock hood - it retards the timing! Yes I was shocked to see that!! AND! not only that, I've already gone through 3 windshield cowl covers w/ the stock hood :(

young gunna - i dont usually go to nc meets. I was at the gta megameet and the recent gta mini meet recently.

tnk - stock 2005 neon color :P mineral grey metallic clearcoat.

Very nice.......just a thought though, get yourself the ram air style hood from Kaminari, same as mine, completely functional at blowing air on the turbo, when I look into my scoop, all I see is my exhaust manifold, and my coolant bottle, plus it fits on the regular Neon PERFECTLY.......Here's a pic of it on mine, just a suggestion so you have a hood that fits, and is completely functional.....(in this pic you can barely see my coolant lid)

Great job and I love that paint...it kinda reminds me of the 1GN paint on the charcoal grey neons. Anyhow.....the hood doesn't look ALL right to me, but the car is still right on man.

car looks great!!! everything looks extremly clean and flows nice. the hood seems a little out of palce, but i still like it. gives it some kinda of bulky agression look....and if it functions better over the stock hood than thats another plus.

now not to hijack the thread or anything, but im using the oem hood on my 2000/srt4 and i get overheating issues when i am sitting idle for a while or doing a lot of stop and go driving. it seems to heat up to like 220 or so maybe a little higher. then i turn the heater on and let the fans hit and it drops to 195-200 after a few minutes. ive tried draining the coolant down a little and then adding non mixed coolant to give it like a 60/40 mix to see if it might help, but it still does it. i switched to 180* thermo and it still does it, but now when i am driving without stopping the temp drops to a real nice low temp. but then once i start to do some stop and go it rises up. think it could be the oem 2000 hood doing this from it not letting enough air cool the turbo? jason if you have found a fix for this with oem hood please pm me
