long distance door opener!

Post by rice_eater » Tue Sep 19, 2006 10:54 am

haha, did you guys know that if you lock your keys in your car, and have a spare opener at home, you can call, and if whoever is home puts the key fob next to the phone and presses the unlock button the signal will transmit through the phone and open your car?

it works, i even got my mom to press the garage opener from downtown on her way to work and our door oppened

jk, but yeah i did hear about that but never knew if it actually worked.... all it does is transmit the frequency signal of the garage door opener/keyless entry over the phone

Yeah, considering the frequency range of a telephone is roughly 300Hz to 3.4kHz... all of which is audible to the human ear. Obviously, you can't hear your remote talking to your keyless entry reciever, so it's operating well outside that frequency range.

Thank you for the laugh.

The best I've gonen any remote to work is the on for my car alarm. I could stand at the window of my 10th floor apartment and lock or unlock my car which was out of sight from my side of the building.
