Car won't start

Post by xspeedx » Tue Sep 19, 2006 1:43 pm

Hey guys, this morning I went to start up my car but no luck .. it sounded like a dead battery so I used my other car to boost it but still no luck ... it made noises but never actually started up .. the battery was good cuz the radio and all was working but the car wouldn't start ...

I used my 2nd car to get to work and then came home and tried starting up the neon but no luck .. battery is totally dead .. tried boosting it but still won't start ..

any help ?

I tried getting codes but kept getting that useless P-1684 one ..

its a 2001 Chrysler Neon with about 130,000 km's on it

I bet the battery is shot...don't jump replace the battery. Or put a charger on it overnight and leave it on when you start it in the AM....if it starts then its the battery.

If it's the stock battery, replace it. It's shot. I had this happen this weekend down in Indy in my friend intrpeid and a few months back on the Neon. Old stock batteries will just die and won't hold a charge anymore.

also check your connectors on the battery. They may be corroded. If you can get at those with a wire brush then plug them back into the battery. See if that fixes it. If not try re-jumping with the newly cleaned connectors to see if that starts your car. If it doesn't you may have a bad starter. :( Even if your battery is toast your engine should still start if it's being jumped.

Not necessarily....depends on a few factors....how dead the battery was...how long the jumpers were left on. Batteries don't jump on the first try. And if its a stock battery I will put money on it being the battery Mopars neon battery blows.
