Can't find brakepads for my 2000 !!
All of the local parts stores keep giving me the wrong brakepads for the front of my 00 plymouth ES. The brake pads they keep giving me do not fit on my car. They even went back 5 years and they still showed the same part number for the Neon. I took them my old brakepads that came off the car and they have nothing to match them. anyone know why this is happening ? HELP , I need new brakepads NOW !

No idea why this is happening. Anyone else?
Our parts are usually readily available. It's not like looking for a replacement part for a Ferrari.
Go to another store until you find one. Or, better yet, get the parts number here and just give it to them. Maybe that can narrow the search? I dunno, i've never had this problem.

X2 Pepboys and or autozone can be real idiots. The reason they keep giving you the wrong brake pad is there giving you the pad for the 1st gen not 2nd gen. Go in and ask for a brake pads for a 2002+Nick Drake wrote:^Not true raul. Head to NAPA, I just bought some there and they're just fine. Plus they usually know their shit about cars.

My professor who is a master technician and has been working on cars his entire life and our textbook says to use OEM replacements for brake pads to get rid of noises. I had some pads put on last year. (aftermarket ones) And they make noises to this day. But they still have a bunch of beef left and I can stand the noise.

I'd say get them from BlackRoseRacing if you want OEM or head over to ModernPerformance and get some Hawk HPS pads from them for about $50

At Napa I got pads for the front and shoes for the back for 33 dollars and change, so I figure for a non-employee they'd be around 60- 70 bucks.

I could have told you that had I seen this thread, lol. I work at Autozone.... I have no clue why they were calling up that part #! When you look it up online on the site, they come up 642s. Weeeeeeeeird.badgett wrote:Found my brakepads finally after I had ruined one of my rotors. I have the same front pads as a 97 (mkd642). My 2000 was calling for part #mkd730. I don't know why this happen but the 642's where the right ones !
You know what... I went back to 97. They all take the same pads. I didn't know this. I thought 1st gens were different. Interesting. Occasionally our computers ARE wrong. Especially when it comes to trucks, where sometimes its very weird what manufacturers do for heavy duty, 4 x 4, etc packages. They mix/match parts from other models.

I dunno who you're talking to... but I'm running Hawk HPS. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I went to Nelson Ledge's roadcourse and never had any brake fade. They work well on the street, I haven't encountered any conditions that make them work any less than I want. (hot/cold)EclecticBlue wrote:What pads are you running? I was thinking of upgrading my pads next year too...
What's interesting is... I went to a drift day today out in PA, and the Miata guys were dissing the Hawks.. I was like nooooo I just bought some for my Miata! The one guy said Axis (Axxis?) pads were better than the Hawks. Are these avail. for the Neons? Hmmm. I like my Hawks lol.
