Lights dimming, have UDP, ground kit and alternator ODP, ??

Post by spencersummerfield » Mon Sep 25, 2006 10:29 am

ok so I have a 2000 Neon with a UDP and and alt ODP ,to keep the voltage at 14.1volts my question is that I am running a Infinity 300rms monoblock and my stupid lights dim all the time... so much that my stereo shuts off.... wont blow fuses or anything just resets itself.. a new pioneer Mp3 Deck. and I am running a 1.2 Faured Cap. and it is still dimming.. and sugestions???
and when i say dimming i mean the deck light dim first then the whole car.. I am running HID's and I dont want to hurt them...
I have a ground kit and everything...

would a larger ground on my alternator do anything?
thanks Spen

i would run at least 4 gauge if your not doing so.... and you gotta remember that its not always just about volts... amprage has a big role in this too.

lose the udp and put the regular one back on it will solve your problem if you want it to be better get a lighter pulley that is the stock size.......udp and ICE don't mix

If your Cap is reading only 13.1 with and UDP and ODP then something is really wrong with the alternator or wiring. A healthy alternator should read 14+ volts at idle. As said above a PT cruiser alternator can be swapped in easy. Only abut $40-$50 at a junk yard. As for dimming lights you will always get a little dimming but not to that extreme.
