Tire Size

Post by JustANeon » Sun Jan 02, 2005 2:26 am

I'm looking at getting some new rims and had a few questions
first off the wheel i'm looking to get is the ALT Sonix
now my questions
which size will i be able to get the widest tire on, 17 or 18 and what size tire will it be?
Would a 235/45-17 work?

a 235 would probably rub.

the usual size for 18 is 215/35-18
for 17 i think its usually 205/40-17

i've ran 215/45/17s when i had my 17s back in the day, no rubbing might be able to get away with 225/40/17s if you can even find a that size
I would post a mod list, but Its too long and i'm way too lazy....

If you want 17s a 215/40/17 is the best size. Thats what I had on my first 2gn. I am getting ready to put 18s on my silver one and I am gonna run a 215/40/18. No rubbing. Will ride better than 35 series tires.

dont know how 40 series tire are not gonna rub on your 2000 unless you have aftermarket struts or srt4 struts. 215/35/18 barely fits. There about a quarter of a inch more clearance if that left so I dont see a 40 series fitting w/ out modification

I test fitted a 225/40-18 and they didnt rub. So I know for a fact that 215/40-18s will fit. The 225's just look to big on the car. I have 18x7.5 35mm offset 5Zigen RX-6's. What tire size are you running??

I just noticed you have the tokiko struts maybe thats why they will fit, because I know on my 2000 and my buddies 2000 (both running 215/35/18s) theres no way 40's would fit
