Any UDP will throw codes on an 2002, all you can do is ignore the light, or take the bulb out in the dash. Just a little thing all us 2002 owners have to deal with, the UDP won't damage anything and the codes dont' really mean anything (as far as it being linked to the UDP) so I wouldnt' worry about it. I see my CEL go on nearly everday and hell, usually it'll stay on for 2 weeks then just go out all of a sudden, the come back on or just blink when I go above 5,000 RPM or so again.
And I'd also say that yes the remote start will throw the CEL since you are having to bypass the clutch switch to be able to start the car remotely since the clutch can't be pressed.

Shouldn't throw a code with an Auto Starter, Neither my 02,03 or my buddies 01 and 00 have had that happen.

I have this problem (B.S. CEL code) also. I have the A/FX UDP. Open the hood, open the fuse/relay cover, locate the FP/ASD 20 amp fuse at position #21, remove it for 30 seconds or so: this will clear the code. It is annoying
After clearing the codes, when I exceed 5K RPM, I'll get the flashing light/chimes for 2-3 cycles. The 4th or 5th time, the CEL stays on.

Hey Guys
Just a couple of thoughts from an old mopar tech.
Talk to the engine gurus about crankshaft balance with the smaller (lighter weight) pulley. There may be a balance issue peculiar to 2k2 engines, esp at higher revs.
Can you get it to set the code/trip the light revving the car in neutral or does it have to be under load?
Lemme know.

Update on P030X CEL. Howell Automotive is working on a fix for this in their A/FX computer. I called Gary and discussed the fix. The guy that does their programming is a retired DC programmer, who is very independent. He does what he wants, when he wants. Howell is at his mercy, waiting for the new program. Gary said they will not reflash existing computers to fix the CEL problem. Howell does not know when the new program will be available.

Why didn't I think about this before... I was just talking to a friend about this. If the lightweight pulley is unbalancing the shaft...it has to be throwing something off with the shaft or internally, because one imbalance ties into another. Sure we have drama queen computer's but something has to be going on internally.RopeRat1 wrote:Hey Guys
