Some of you may have known that I'm military and stationed in Germany. I'm a Sergeant serving with the 1st Batallion, 18th Infantry Regiment out of Schweinfurt Germany.
Recently I was given order to report to Washington D.C. as we had a fallen comrad who was to be laid to rest in Arlington. I was to go with a fellow NCO and we were to report as representatives from the unit.
What we didn't know was that the gentleman had died in World War ONE. You can get more information from the story than I can describe, but it was damn cool and a HELLUVA honor to be given the opportunity to lay one of my fellow 18th Infantry Regiment brothers to rest in the most hallowed American resting grounds.
If you look it up, CBS evening news interviewed myself and the other NCO that went with me. We have a brief couple of seconds on the boob tube. I am the guy on the right.... in the picture for just a few moments. But hey... I was on tv right?
