17x8 flat black motegi trak lites *56cry*

Post by tamadrumr88 » Fri Sep 29, 2006 5:22 pm

i streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetched the 205/50-17 BF-G KDW2's on there and its clearly evident in the pics, we havent been able to diagnose why im seemingly the only person that is having difficulty running the wheels on my car (currently im running 5mm spacers in the rear and its still VERY close

anyway, onto the pics :) my car hasnt been washed in a few days so dont tell me how dirty i already know it is

1 finger gap in the rear

2 fingers at an angle, so ~1.5 finger gap

what do you guys think??

even with 5mm spacers in the rear you can see that the tires still sit too close to the rear tension struts *do the mopar replacements offer more clearance?*

Stretching the tire like that is very dangerous, not good for high speed turning, and I don't mean just autocrossing either, you could lose it on a good high speed onramp.

The wheels look hot on your car though, I'm runing 8mm spacers and have done so for three years, no problems.

i dont need new tires until atleast spring... 235/40 would be perfect for this rim but id have to check if i have the room

like i said, no one has been able to diagnose my problem yet :( lots of guys are running 17x8 on coilovers and havent heard of anyone yet with this problem, im only dropped 1.8"!!

We had an SRT at work like that. If you - the camber it will push it away alittle more.

Wait didnt you have the ACR wheels on it?? I wish I could find some of them

Good look with turning really hard with 205/50's and being lowered.

I scrape my 205/50's sometimes when I take turns hard.

yeah but i bought those back in the day when they were uber expensive still but since they were still new at that time i got a set that had practically brand new tires... i drove two hours and paid $900 cash with 1800 miles on them. some guy that lived in florida was in connecticut for vacation and he made the 3.5 hour one-way drive to come get these!

Looks very nice man.

The Mopar Tension Strut replacements would give you more clearance for the back tires. They curve in towards the center of the vehicle.

found out that (a) i have the completely wrong offset, or (b) i need srt rear knuckles (and therefore discs, calipers, etc) because the srt knuckle positions the rear tension strut significantly further inward, which would allow you to run the wider wheel/tire. dodge engineered the rear of the srt to be higher in addition to moving the rear tension strut inward as to gain additional clearance. sucks for me that im lowered AND i have non-srt knuckles :( anybody want my rear disc brakes for a conversion?

wow. thanks for that info, I didn't know any of that...
and what ACHEAPSHOT said was correct. I had them both sitting side by side at one point, but have no pics :(

Oh, and those wheels look meaty :) I like!
