Well, since my headlights are pretty much screwed I tried sanding them with 2000 grit sand paper and buffing. This didn't work out so well and they still look like crap. Anyhow, given the texture of the plastic I just drew out a pencil line until I was kinda happy with it on the light itself. Then I took electrical tape and matched the curve (only because it bends easy and its what I had on hand).
Then, I traced the outline on a piece of notebook paper and transfered it to the vinyl. I cut the curve and started working it back trimming as I went. The only problem is not really knowing what the end result will be until its done. Oh well, its a learning experience.
On another note, I got a buffer today and will begin the task of wet sanding the entire car to get the scratches out. It looks like somone stored cardboard boxes on any flat surface they could find (trunk, hood and roof). I've never done that either so wish me luck!
