3.94 tranny?

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

3.94 tranny?

Post by speedracer » Sat Oct 07, 2006 10:09 pm

Hey, check out my mods. Do you think it would be worth it to hunt down and swap my 3.55 for a r/t 3.94 tranny?

Will it really make a difference?

Granted my gas millage would go down, but it's a sacrafice I'm willing to make to the performance gods.

It might not make a huge difference in your actual 1/4 mile time but it will definitely make it funner to drive on the street and your gas milage really wont suffer to much i was getting 36 mpg highway on my r/t.

Yeah, we've got a bunch of junkyards down here in Atlanta. But then again rt's are pretty rare. It's just that my gears are so long, especially third. It takes way to long to pull though third.

If I were to go to a junkyard and look for a 3.94 transmission, and the transmission was already out of the car, how would I know if the transmission was from a r/t or acr?

The junkyard that's close to me pulls alot of thier engines and transmissons from the cars.
