Aux input?

Post by *ICE* » Mon Oct 09, 2006 6:52 pm

Is there any ways to mod the head unit so it can have aux input ? I have a 4GB memory on my phone and bunch of .mp3 on it and would like to play it directly to car's stereo..

I have a 6-discs cd changer but i barely listen to CD anyways.

thankss :P

I'm not sure exactly how you could get an actual auxillary input. If you have the tape deck you could get the tape adapter, or you can get the little things that transmit the signal on FM so you can pick it up on the radio, but other than that all I can think of is an aftermarket deck. If someone here really knows their electronics they might know a way to hook it up through the changer input, but I couldn't tell you.

FM transmitter and Tape adapter quality wont be as same as direct wired aux input.

I tried them both and quality is really bad.

Someone here must knows how to modify the head unit...

I really don't think it's possible at least I haven't heard of any way to do this with the stock headunit :-?

I've got an Aux. Input converter that plugs into the Cd changer input on the radio. You plug RCA's into the converter, and it sends the signal to the radio. Its not a chrysler unit, so I cant control my Ipod from the radio... But its pretty clear. Ive got one of the wires that plugs into the head phone jack on my Ipod and turns into RCAs. I've also hooked up my laptop to it for watching movies on long trips.

Well, its an aftermarket unit. A guy over on dodgeforums actually sent it to me free... So i dont really know ho much it costs. Its just a simple box with RCA in, and wires with a connector on the other end that plugs into the stock radio.

Here's a link to one like mine... I'll have to pull mine out to figure out who made it. I didnt realize it was so expensive! Free stuff FTW

Sorry for reviving this good old thread, but ´cause I have been searching for that function I found two stock radios on ebay with subsequently installed Aux-In

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-JEEP ... ioQ5fVideo

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrysler ... ioQ5fVideo

So it should definitely be possible

Has anyone here done this and could give some details of his work ??
